For purposes of comparison, the numbers of articles related to the most representative recent synthetic organic reactions, i.e., chiral reactions [24, 28, 31, 57-67], metathesis reactions [68-79], and cross-coupling reactions [24, 29, 30, 80-90], are shown. Information retrieval conducted with the Chemical Abstract Database SciFinder System on January 26, 2012 (total data 31,409,203) produced the following results for the three types of reaction ... [Pg.4]

SciFinder at http //www.cas.org/SCIFINDER/scicover2.html is an easy-to-use desktop research tool that allows the user to explore research topics, browse scientific journals, and access information on the most recent scientific developments. SciFinder Scholar is a desktop research tool designed especially for use by students and faculty to easily access the information in the CAS databases. With either tool, one can search Chemical Abstracts and the CA Registry by author name, research topic, substance identifier, chemical structure, or chemical reaction. [Pg.152]

Similar to a chemical reaction and its Rx-ID, a substance also has its unique Reaxys registry number (Rx-RN), which is assigned to each substance when it is registered for the first time in the database. If a CAS registry number is available for the compound, it will be displayed as a part of the property data. The availability of a substance s CAS registry number enables users to easily identify specific compounds between Reaxys and CAS databases (e.g., SciFinder Scholar, STN, SciFinder web), which are now e-linked. [Pg.16]

The second large reaction database is Chemical Abstracts from the American Chemical Society, accessed most often via the Scifinder interface. It basically suffers from the same limitations as mentioned above. The main advantage of Scifinder for combinatorial chemists is the ability to also search for keywords. Thus, a search for a specific reaction type combined with keywords such as solid phase or immobilized reagent often leads to useful literature citations. [Pg.661]

SciFinder. SciFinder is an interface to the Chemical Abstracts family of databases. The CAPLUS file is the equivalent to the printed Chemical Abstracts from 1907 to the present. The Registry file of chemical substances is described above. CASREACT is a file of single- and multistep organic reactions drawn from selected organic journals. SciFinder provides a user-friendly, graphical interface that permits searching by topic, author, chemical structure, and substructure. Search results can be refined, analyzed, and displayed in a number of ways. SciFinder also provides links to the electronic full text of many papers. [Pg.910]
