XRD Characterization The powder x-ray diffraction of the mechano-chemically milled complex borohydride has been carried out by the Philips X pert diffractometer with Cu-Koi radiation of X= 5.4060 A. The incident and diffraction slit width used for the measurements are 1° and 2° respectively. The sample holder was covered with Polyethylene tape (foil) with an O-ring seal in an N2 filled glove box in order to avoid or at least minimize the 02/moisture pickup during the XRD measurements. The diffraction from the tape was calibrated without the actual sample and found to be occurring at 29 angles of 22° and 24°, respectively. The XRD phase identification and particle size calculation has been carried out using PANalytical X pert Highscore software, version l.Of. [Pg.112]

C. Chemical Milling Waste (Aircraft Parts Manufacturer) - contains chromium, copper and zinc. [Pg.292]

The waste acid used for the distillation tests was the effluent from chemical milling operations. The composition was 20 wtZ HNO3, 30 wtZ H2SO4, and 60 g/L U. The H2SO4 can be used to displace NO3 in the metal salts, thus forming sulfate salts, and allows separation of free HNO3 and HF from these salts by distilling them to the overhead stream. [Pg.315]

The processes occurring in a high-speed newsprint paper machine have been discussed above. There are several additional considerations of note in the overall process picture. Paper for the most part is a commodity item (i.e., production costs are more economical per unit when large tonnages of uniform specifications are produced). Most mills have a break-even point at an 85% capacity so it is vital to operate mills at design capacity. Economies of scale are also found for pulp and paper mills at levels of about 1000 tonnes of paper per day for full chemical mills and 200—400 tonnes of paper per day for semichemical or mechanical mills. Thus, the outputs of paper mills are... [Pg.457]

The block copolymers are also used in a wide variety of sealants, including construction, industrial, and consumer-grade products. They are unique in that they can be formulated to produce a clear, water white product. Other applications include bookbinding and product assembly and chemical milling coatings. [Pg.416]
