Chemical Abstracts Service registration number

Several thousand chlorine-containing compounds are known and have been synthesized. A select group is included for description here to provide a cross section of the most important of these compounds. The number in brackets following each heading, where appropriate, is the Chemical Abstracts Service Registration number. [Pg.367]

Octanol/water partition coefficients (log P) were taken from the compilation by Hansch and Leo (1979). Where no experimental values were recorded, log P was calculated from pi or fragment values and related compounds, if neither was available, log P was estimated on the basis of similar compounds or groups partition coefficients. TABLE 1 gives a complete list of the investigated compounds, including their Chemical Abstracts Service registration numbers (CAS), log P, - [eV], and the substituents molar refractivity contributions (AMR), the latter also taken from Hansch and Leo (1979) or calculated or estimated, as indicated. [Pg.155]

Industrial use of a Grignard reagent in the United States requires that it be included on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) list of Chemical Substances in Commerce. A corresponding registration exists for the European Community and for Japan. Table 1 gives the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) numbers of those listed by the EPA as of 1994. [Pg.86]

C.A.S. Registration Number Chemical Abstracts Service. An assigned number used to identify a material. CAS numbers identify specific chemicals and are assigned sequentially the number is a concise, unique means of material identification. A product of more than one component will have a specific number for each component (i.e., the CAS for lethal nerve agent GA, or tabun, is 77-81-9 while the CAS for the liquid nerve agent GB, or sarin, is 107-44-8, and 50.642-23-4). [Pg.300]

Propolis (registration number chemical abstracts service - CAS 9009-62-5) is a sticky colored material, which honeybees collect from different plants exudates and modify in its hypopharyngeal glands, being used in the hive to fill gaps and to protect against invaders as insects and microorganisms. Raw propolis usually contains 50% resin and balsam, 30% wax. [Pg.259]

CAS Number (CAS Registration Number). Chemical Abstract Service Number. The Chemical Abstract Service is a registry that assigns unique numbers to chemical substances for identification purposes. [Pg.7157]

The unique registration number of a chemical compound or substance assigned by the Chemical Abstract Service, a division of the American Chemical Society. The intention is to make database searches more convenient, as chemicals often have many names. Almost all molecule databases today allow searching by CAS number. The CAS no. usually is given in the substance entries of many library mass spectra. [Pg.776]
