Cerium nanoparticle synthesis

Gu and Soucek reported the synthesis of ceria nanoparticle in hydrocarbon solvents. Cerium-oleate complex was refluxed in high boiling point organic solvents such as octyl ether, 1-tetradecene, decalin, dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether, dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether, and 2,2,4-trimethyl-l,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate, to decompose and form ceria nanocrystals. The sizes of the nanocrystals are uniform and could be... [Pg.291]

This new single-step synthesis unites the simplicity of preparation and lower production costs, with the outstanding properties of the final catalysts. By the single-step procedure proposed here, deposition of dispersed nanoparticles of noble metals on ceramic supports with customised textural properties and shape was achieved. Noble metals including platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, etc. and metal oxides including copper, iron, nickel, chromimn, cerium oxides, etc on sepiolite or its mixtures with alumina, titania, zirconia or other refractory oxides have been also studied. [Pg.165]

In this work we report on the synthesis of well-formed cubic cerium oxide nanoparticles (3.3-4.9 nm) immobilized in a polyethylene matrix. Preparation of the CeO2/polyethylene material was carried out via the thermolysis of cerium precursors in heated polymer-oil melt. A benefit of this method is that the particles are enclosed in the polymer matrix immediately upon their formation, hence, they do not conglomerate. [Pg.343]

The size of the nanodroplets can be controlled in the range of 5 - 80 nm by changing the concentration ratio of water/surfactant in the microemulsion system. By this method, yttrium oxide [67], cerium oxide [68-70], neodymium oxide [71], and erbium oxide [72, 73] nanoparticles have been synthesized. The average particle size of the particles adopts values in the range fi om 2 to 70 nm, which depends on the synthesis conditions. [Pg.144]

The effect of crystallite size has been investigated by Kockrick et who compared soot combustion over cerium dioxide nanoparticles prepared by an inverse micro-emulsion synthesis and by a simple precipitation route. The results show that, besides there being a great difference in crystal size, the catalytic activity for fresh... [Pg.576]
