Generally used with mineral wool products where, in its decorative forms, it gives attractive facings to ceilings and wall tiles and enhances their sound-absorption characteristics. PVC is also used as a vapor control layer facing. 

Unfinished Products. Unfinished fiber glass products are available in the form of boards, blankets, and batts in various thicknesses and densities. These products are used by fabricators who apply finishes to make products suitable for ceilings, walls, open-plan office screens, etc. They also are used for sound absorption behind decorative and protective facings such as perforated or expanded metal and wood grilles. Thicker materials have better low frequency performance than thinner materials. Low frequency performance can be improved by spacing the material away from a sound-reflecting surface rather than applying the material directly to the surface.

Particleboards most commonly are used as core stock for veneer in furniture and in doors, as interior panels for walls and ceilings, as subflooring, as sheathing and siding, and as components in interior millwork. The dense types are used in the same way as fiberboard hardboard, described above. Both dense particleboards and hardboards, after receiving a surface coating, may be printed with decorative designs.

Grid- The completed assembly of main and cross tees in a suspended ceiling system before the ceiling panels are installed. Also the decorative slats (munton) installed between glass panels. 

Wall Coatings. Plaster (a mix based on lime, cement, sand, and water) is applied to wall and ceiling surface. It subsequently hardens to give a smooth surface for decoration.

Decorative paints, so called because they form a decorative coating inside and outside buildings, represent over 50% of coatings consumption in both the USA and Europe. This market can be further divided into trade and retail sectors. The former supplies the professional painter while the latter serves the retail outlets. One of the most noticeable developments in the retail sector in recent years has been the increase in paint sales from the large DIY stores at the expense of the smaller suppliers. Both retail and trade sectors can be further divided into waterborne emulsion paints , for walls, ceilings, etc., and solventborne gloss, primer, varnish, etc. 

Finishing Materials Engineered textiles have a tremendous potential as components of ceiling, wall, and flooring structures. Their use as awnings, tarps, and tents are well integrated into healthcare facilities as functional and decorative materials. These aesthetic and functional materials all benefit from antimicrobial treatments. 

Asbestos materials may be encountered by electricians in decorative finishes such as artex ceiling finishes, plaster and floor tiles. It is also found in control gear such as flash guards and matting in fuse carriers and distribution fuse boards, and in insulation materials in vessels, containers, pipework, ceiling ducts and wall and floor partitions. 

Canopy ceiling n. A decoration composed of a ceding paper, or a sidewall paper such as a strip, in which the strips are cut in triangles and hung so that the apex will terminate in the center of the ceiling to produce a striking domed effect.

Drop ceiling n. A form of decoration in which the ceiling paper is brought down to a suitable depth on the walls of a room and divided from the sidewall by a border or molding. Gives the illusion of a lower ceiling. 

Wallpaper (1827) n. Paper, or paperlike material, usually decorated in colors, which is pasted or otherwise affixed to walls or ceilings of rooms. 

A 46-year-old woman who had worked for 5 years in a windowless decorator s studio polluted with crocidoUte sprayed to steel ceilings died from a pleural mesothelioma (Schneider et al. 2001). A fibre analysis by light microscopy showed 3162 ferruginous bodies per gram of wet lung tissue. 

Part I deals with conditions of factories and workplaces. Every factory shall be kept in a clean state (s. 1) and free from accumulations of dirt and refuse. Inside walls, partitions, ceilings etc. must be decorated at least every fourteen months or, if painted, be repainted at least once every seven years.
