MEA systems foam rather easily resulting in excessive amine can y over from the absorber. Foaming can be caused by a number of foreign materials such as condensed hydrocarbons, degradation products, solids such as carbon or iron sulfide, excess corrosion inhibitor, valve grease, etc. Solids can be removed with cartridge filters. Hydrocarbon liquids aie usually removed in the flash tank. Degradation products are removed in a reclaimer as previously described. 

Photo flash bombs and cartridges are pyro technic items which are classified with bombs (Vol 2, B229) because of their explosive effect. Ordnance practices, the term combustible cartridge case is referred to cases fabricated from fibrous NC and a binder. Such cases produce no residue when fired in a conventional artillery weapon system. The term consumable cartridge case has been reserved for cases prepd from combustible materials other than NC, such as woodpulp or paper impregnated with a phenolformaldehyde resin In each type of case, fungicides, flash reducing agents and gun erosion inhibitors can be incorporated... 

Fuzeless target practice cartridges are used in lieu of expensive HE contg mechanically fuzed rounds, to produce a flash and smoke signal upon impact of the projectile with the target. 

Highly accurate trajectory information is required in the development of a missile system. One method of obtaining this information for a missile at high altitudes is to photograph the flash produced by a photoflash cartridge ejected a distance sufficient to prevent damage to the missile in flight.
