Carbon purification

Foaming is usually caused by contamination of glycol with salt, hydrocarbons, dust, mud, and corrosion inhibitors. Remove the source of contamination with effective gas cleaning ahead of the absorber, improved solids filtration, and carbon purification. [Pg.322]

This yeast exists as a 24-hour variety that produces 14% and another variety produces 18% in a week. I have tested both types of this yeast and found it absolutely superior The alcohol produced by this yeast makes the mash almost so clean that no carbon purification is required (I am NOT exaggerating). If you use the type that produces 14% you must double distil otherwise the spirit will not be strong enough. The 18% version only needs a single distillation to give a good strength. It also ferments cleaner but the 24 hour version produces a somewhat better quality. [Pg.10]

There is nothing essentially difficult in the design and installation of a carbon purification system. Means must be provided to collect the air from all contaminated spaces and pass this at a proper velocity through adsorbers containing sufficient quantity of a suitable activated carbon. The purified recovered air is then returned to the living quarters. [Pg.47]

Carbon treatment New baths do not require activated carbon purification. Circulation through a carbon-packed filter tube is recommended to control organic contamination for design and number, consult with supplier. The need for batch carbon treatment is indicated by corner cracking after reflow duU, pink deposits and haze, haloing, or comet trails around the PTH. Carbon-treat about every 1,500 (Ah) per gal. The following is the procedure for batch carbon treatment. [Pg.704]

The chief danger and main source of error in a combustion is that of moving the Bunsen forward a little too rapidly and so causing much of the substance to burn very rapidly, so that a flash-back occurs. This usually causes an explosion wave to travel back along the tube towards the purification train, some carbon dioxide and water vapour being carried with it. If these reach the packing of the purification train they will, of course, be absorbed there and the results of the estimation will necessarily be low. [Pg.479]

The exchange resins 6nd application in (i) the purification of water (cation-exchange resin to remove salts, followed by anion-exchange resin to remove free mineral acids and carbonic acid), (ii) removal of inorganic impurities from organic substances, (iii) in the partial separation of amino acids, and (iv) as catalysts in organic reactions (e.g., esterification. Section 111,102, and cyanoethylation. Section VI,22). [Pg.1020]
