Thermogravimetric analysis carbon black

Thermal stability is a crucial factor when polysaccharides are used as reinforcing agents because they suffer from inferior thermal properties compared to inorganic fillers. However, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of biocomposites suggested that the degradation temperatures of biocomposites are in close proximity with those of carbon black composites (Table-1). [Pg.122]

Au and AuPt nanoparticles were assembled on carbon black (XR-72C) or silica powders with a controlled weight ratio of the metals (Au or AuPt) vs. the support materials. The actual loading was determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and DCP-AES analysis. [Pg.292]

Amount of deposited material - Table 4 shows the deposited weight measured with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for the different carbon black types after polyacetylene deposition at 27 Pa monomer pressure, 250 W power, and 1 h treatment time. These values show that the most active carbon black is the fullerene soot EP-P434. [Pg.190]

The polypropylene continuous phase was transparent and epoxy phase appeared dark in the optical micrograph. However, the cause of elongated structure was not fully understood. The formation of elongated structure could be due to the friction between carbon black coated dispersed particles and the matrix (61), which decreased the interfacial tension between the immiscible polymers (63) or both (64). Based on extraction studies and thermogravimetric analysis, it was concluded that nearly all the carbon black particles were located in the epoxy matrix. [Pg.643]

Resistance to environmental stress cracking - Measurement of the melt flow index -Carbon black and/or mineral filler content measurement in polyethy-lene by direct combustion - Measurement of carbon black content by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) - Assessment of carbon black dispersion in polyethylene using a microscope... [Pg.399]

Thermogravimetric analysis. From fig. 6 it follows that the addition of carbon black to the elastomer composite increased its thermal stability. This is due to the improved thermal conductivity of vulcanizate achieved by the addition of the filler. The mass decrement is lowest for polymer filled with carbon black with the highly branched structure (FW200, Printex). This phenomenon is probably caused by the higher graphicity level of this types of carbon black [6]. [Pg.165]

The presence of unbumt carbon in fly ashes has many adverse effects on concrete including the appearance of grayish blackness in mortars and concrete, need for higher w/c+f ratio to obtain required consistency, and decreased air entertainment. Thermogravimetric analysis has been developed to estimate hydrated lime, calcium carbonate, and unbumed carbon in fly ashes. The methodology is as follows ... [Pg.299]

Thermogravimetric analysis is used to determine polymer additives and ash content, the amount of carbon black, and thermal decomposition. It is particularly useful for geotextiles determining the thermal decomposition time can be employed to predict the in-service life at a given temperature. [Pg.111]

The presence of the co-ordinated hydroxy-groups was confirmed from i.r. and thermogravimetric data. Oxidative addition of iodine to [Pt(acac)2], either in the solid state or in carbon tetrachloride solution, has yielded the black complex [Pt(acac)2l2]- U.v.-visible and mass spectral measurements show the reaction to be reversible in solution or in the gas phase, and a singlecrystal X-ray analysis (Table 8) indicates trans octahedral geometry for the product. [Pg.423]
