Capillary-strengthening effect

Bill berry Vaccinium myrtiiius Vision enhancement and eye health, microcirculation, spider veins and varicose veins, capillary strengthening before surgery No adverse effects have been reported in clinical studies. None significant. [Pg.659]

We therefore sought to evaluate reproducibility of shotgun proteomics in studies of archival FFPE tissue. Because FFPE samples are more complex than non-cross-linked samples, we evaluated FFPE human liver for analytical reproducibility and confidence in protein assignments.20 This complexity strengthens the argument for using high-resolution separations to maximize analyte concentration and minimize matrix effects. In this case, we used transient capillary isotachophoresis/capillary zone electrophoresis (cITP/cZE) in place of IEF to help address this effect. cITP/cZE has a resolution superior even to cIEF (90% of identified peptides in 1 fraction, 95% in 2 fractions or less for cITP/cZE, vs. 75% and 80%, respectively, for cIEF). [Pg.356]

Experiments have proven flavonoids affect the heart and circulatory system and strengthen the capillaries. They are often referred to as biological stress modifiers since they serve as protection against environmental stress (Middleton 1988). They are also known to have synergistic effects with ascorbic acid. Their protective actions are mainly due to membrane stabilising and antioxidant effects. [Pg.35]

With respect to environmental chemistry, controls over the emission of organic compounds will undoubtedly be strengthened in the future. For example, municipal incinerators without provisions for the effective measurement of all hazardous organic compounds will soon be strictly forbidden everywhere. It seems likely that a large fraction of the moneys previously spent for defense purposes will be redirected toward improvements in continuous measurement technology. Sensors will be required to compete in this respect with such fast separation methods as capillary electrophoresis or flash chromatography, which permit the separation of most compounds within only a few minutes. [Pg.1052]

Rutin (109) is known to strengthen capillary blood vessels and a French team [180, 203-206] has screened a number of amine salts of chromone-2-carboxylic acids for this type of activity (sometimes called Vitamin P activity) which was found to increase with the of the amine used. 6,8-Dimethyl-3-(2-methoxyphenyl) chromone-2-carboxylic add had no effect on capillary fragility [121]. [Pg.109]

Finally many of the natural sources of vitamin C also contain substances called bioflavonoids which appear to have effects like those of the vitamin (such as strengthening capillary walls against breakage or leakage of fluid), and which may protect it against destruction.Hence, the effects of a given amount of dietary vitamin C may vary according to the amounts of bioflavonoids which are present in the diet. [Pg.549]
