Canadian Gas Production and Pipeline Company

Successful safety implementations are often challenging when dealing with lone workers, but sometimes a simple solution and frequent reinforcement are all that is necessary to achieve dramatic results. Such was the case with an organization that collects and processes natural gas. The behavioral safety process we designed for this organization improved overall safety, interaction between employees and management, and employee participation that additionally brought the employees a sense of empowerment. [Pg.223]

At the time of consultation, the organization employed 60 workers who worked on wellheads and gas pipes in isolated areas. Safety statistics for the workers themselves were very good before implementation, most accidents being vehicle related. We therefore designed our implementation to concentrate on two areas decreasing the number of vehicle accidents and demonstrating the value of the safety process. [Pg.223]
