Calorimetric acid solution calorimetry

While calorimetric methods, direct reaction calorimetry or solution calorimetry using tin or aluminum as solvent have been performed in rare earth based alloys, this has not been the case in actinide-based alloys, where acid solution calorimetry has sometimes... [Pg.481]

Solution calorimetry of the molecular probes pyrrole, A-methylpyrrole, benzene, and toluene in 35 solvents has been used by Catalan el al. to determine a solvent HBA basicity scale, ranging from the gas phase to HMPT [31a]. Analogously, a solvent HBD acidity scale was derived calorimetrically using A-methylimidazole and A-methylpyrrole as probe molecules in 3 6 solvents, ranging from the gas phase to 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol [31b]. [Pg.398]

Bheda et al. ( ) showed that cellulose triacetate forms a mesophase in dichloroacetic acid. Navard and Haudin (18) examined the thermal behavior of liquid crystalline solutions of CTA in TFA. Navard et al. (23) studied the isotropic to anisotropic transitions of solutions of cellulose triacetate in TFA using differential scanning calorimetry. Navard and Haudin (S2) studied the mesophases of cellulose and cellulose triacetate calorimetrically. Navard et al. (83) report similar studies. Meeten and Navard (97) showed the twist of the cholesteric helicoidal structure of CTA and secondary cellulose in TFA is left-handed. [Pg.266]

A study of the relaxational transitions and related heat capacity anomalies for galactose and fructose has been described which employs calorimetric methods. The kinetics of solution oxidation of L-ascorbic acid have been studied using an isothermal microcalorimeter. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) has been used to measure solid state co-crystallization of sugar alcohols (xylitol, o-sorbitol and D-mannitol), and the thermal behaviour of anticoagulant heparins. Thermal measurements indicate a role for the structural transition from hydrated P-CD to dehydrated P-CD. Calorimetry was used to establish thermodynamic parameters for (1 1) complexation equilibrium of citric acid and P-CD in water. Several thermal techniques were used to study the decomposition of p-CD inclusion complexes of ferrocene and derivatives. DSC and derivative thermogravimetric measurements have been reported for crystalline cytidine and deoxycytidine. Heats of formation have been determined for a-D-glucose esters and compared with semiempirical quantum mechanical calculations. ... [Pg.341]
