A novel acetophenone-4-O-glucoside named nauplathizine was isolated as an active constituent from the antibacterial acetone extract of the aerial parts of Nauplius aquaticus (L.) [245]. The dichloromethane extract of underground parts of Calea uniflora Less, exhibited antifungal activities [246]. Four />-hydroxyacetophenone derivatives were isolated as the main compounds. Some of them showed antifungal activity, with MIC values between 500 and 1000 pg/ml against pathogenic Candida spp. and dermatophytes. [Pg.500]

New naturally occurring monoterpenes having the artemisia skeleton include artemisia ketone epoxide (208), isolated from Artemisia vulgaris and synthesized from prenyl chloride (15, R = Cl), and senecioic acid (59) chloride under Grignard conditions.( + )-Artemisia alcohol (209) has been isolated from A. herba alba [the usually encountered form is the (- )-(S)-isomer (- )-209]. An incompletely characterized triacetate 210 is also reported from the Brazilian plant Calea oxylepis. ... [Pg.316]

Verghese has published a review about this class. Authentically naturally occurring m-menthanes are m-thymol (687, R = H) and its methyl ether 687 (R = Me), isolated from various Calea species as well as the isobutyl ether 687 (R = iBu) from Athrixia elata. Paknikar has synthesized 687 (R = H) by Grignard reaction of 2-hydroxy-5-methylacetophenone. ... [Pg.391]
