Capacity, calculation

There are analogous formulas for calculating capacity. The capacity of a sphere is given by ... [Pg.537]

When determining pressure rehef requirements, one should calculate capacities of control valves for the relieving conditions of temperature and pressure, since these are in many cases significantly different from capacities at normal operating conditions. Downstream equipment must be analyzed imder relieving conditions. [Pg.132]

More efficient use of the titanate material was achieved by passing the column effluent through a synthetic zeolite bed (Zeolon 900 Na from the Norton Co., Akron, Ohio) to sorb Cs which "leaked" from the column. A zeolite bed equal to 20% by weight of the titanate was sufficient to produce a Cs DF>10° in the effluent from a titanate column loaded to slightly more than 100% of the calculated capacity. The use of the zeolite does not effect the overall process conditions since it can be incorporated directly into the sodium titanate during preparation. A Dowex 1-X8 resin bed was used to remove the from the effluent and also served... [Pg.137]

Oversizing of the valve (as a rule of thumb chatter is starting at 25% above necessary/calculated capacity) 1. Use smaller size valves. 2. Reduce the lift of the valve (only possible with pilot-operated safety relief valve, POSRV). [Pg.242]

Fifty-milliliters of a solution of acidic succinic acid ( 5 g/L) was equilibrated overnight with a known amount of sorbent ( 5 grams wet wt). Initial and final concentrations were measured. Calculated capacities arebased on the dry weights calculated from dried samples. Most sorbents were preconditioned by washing in 0.01 M HC1 and triple washing in 50 mL of water at 90°C. The wash pH was 6.5-7.8. [Pg.656]

The integral capacity, Cx. Measuring oM for two reasonably different potentials, the value of the calculated capacity is the average value in that zone, assuming that Cd varies with E. This is the integral capacity that is zero at E = Ez, the point of zero charge... [Pg.43]

Schmickler [131] proposed a jellium model for the metal where the dielectric film in the solvent was replaced by a planar lattice of dipoles, with each dipole taking up one of three orientations. His calculated capacity-charge curves for different metals all exhibited a pronounced hump with a maximum practically at the pzc. [Pg.644]

Results could be reliably assessed only if the total number of people disinfested in these facilities is known. We have chosen for this analysis a document that is beyond all doubt, from an 18-page report about a September 25, 1942, visit of SS-Obergruppenflihrer and General of the Waffen-SS Pohl to Auschwitz.23 The report is the typical work of an aide-de-camp. The overview of total labor expenditure , contained therein, including persons unable to work, and persons concert for duty , ends on Sept. 25, 1942, with a total of 28,207 persons. The calculated capacity of the various parts of the camp is given as follows 24 preventive detention camp [concentration camp auth.], 15,000 and camp Birkenau [POW camp auth.], 12,000 men and 18,000 women. Thus, a total of 45,000 persons. [Pg.315]

Since holes are consumed at the surface during the anodic dissolution, the n-type samples show increasing differences between the measured and the calculated capacities with increasing rate of dissolution, i. e., with increasing anodic polarization. In this case d-c potential curves also show deviations from the initial exponential slope. At higher anodic potentials a saturation current occurs. Illumination compensates for or decreases the influence of the anodic current on the concentration cf holes. Fig. 11 shows schematically the influence of anodic dissolution and illumination. For p-type Ge the same effects occur, when electrons are consumed by the electrode reaction, i. e., in the cathodic region. [Pg.238]

H. GERE CHER (Max Planck Institute) Efimov and Erusalimchik [ Zhur. Fiz. Khim. 33, 441(1959)] reported much larger values of the capacity than you and Bohnenkamp. Do you know if they calculated their capacities in the same way that you did Do you think that their calculated capacities included a pseudo capacity resulting from a chemical reaction taking place during their measurements I can add that our own measurements confirmed your results. [Pg.242]

More exact solution available Phenomena follow from calculations a priori Formal balance equations can be written straightforwardly (for single phase systems) Processes can be visualized Simple models and simple solutions facilitate understanding Can be adapted to the detail of information required Limited calculation capacity often sufficient After adjustment of parameters accurate macroscale behavior prediction... [Pg.233]

Of course, should complete ion conversion of the resin be prevented for any reason the calculated capacity will be too high and actual measurement must be undertaken. Table 4.4 shows a comparison of measured and calculated dry weight capacities for different ionic forms of styrenesulfonic acid resins of different crosslinking. [Pg.75]

No. 4 was later modified to a flat rotor which gave better performance because of better spreading on the surface. No. 5 was a pilot-plant size with a total of 600 sq. feet of evaporating surface. The nominal capacity is generally stated to be 25,000 gallons per day, but this varies with conditions and especially with At (temperature difference). Assuming an over-all heat-transfer coefficient of 2500 in the usual units, the calculated capacities would be... [Pg.23]

Because of small calculation capacity, any evaluation will need more CPU time. Therefore parameter estimation with highly sophisticated algorithms will consume too much time on small computers. The different equations, eqs. (5.127)-(5.130) applying formal integration provide a good tool... [Pg.407]

There are a number of computational techniques available to determine the axial capacity of a pile (Bea, 1975 Cox et al., 1979 Poulos, 1981b). These techniques vary from simple empirical procedures to more refined methods that look at the components of pile strength. The methods available to predict the axial capacity of offshore piles can lead to calculated capacities that vary by 25% from the mean of the predictions (Kraft et al., 1981). [Pg.376]
