The early electric cars were favored by many city dwellers and were popular as taxis. In the New York of 1898, the Electric Carriage and Wagon Company had a fleet of 12 electric cabs with well-appointed interiors available on the city streets. [Pg.148]

On the other hand, the alkoxide system presented several problems in formulation. The system first chosen as a model consisted of a trimethoxymethyl silane crosslinker, 8000 centistoke HEB siloxane, and a catalyst. A number of catalysts were used and each exhibited different cure rates and electrical properties. DuPont tetraalkoxytitante-Tyzor appears to he one of the better catalysts used in this type of curing system. Fillers are usually incorporated into the silicone formulation to improve mechanical properties, promote adhesion, and to serve as light screening and pigment agents. Cab-o-sil, a form of fumed silica, carbon-black, titanium dioxide and calcium carbonate are then used as RTV fillers. [Pg.178]

There are many kinds of control valves. Mechanical valves must be accessible to the operator s hand electrically operated valves permit remote control of flow. For tractors or self-propelled sprayers with enclosed cabs, the remote-controlled valves permit all hoses carrying pesticides to be kept safely outside the cab. [Pg.338]

London s first fleet of fuel cell taxis went into operation in 1998. The ZEVCO Millennium vehicle looks like a standard London taxi, but it has an alkaline fuel cell while most carmakers use PEM technology. The fuel cell charges a battery array used to power the electric motor. The fuel cell runs on hydrogen gas stored under the cab s floor and acts more like a... [Pg.117]

Chapter four investigates the impact of auto technology. It considers fuel cell electric cars, fuel cell cabs, the fuel cell future and recent advances in fuel cell auto technology. [Pg.252]

A shady consortium, the Electric Vehicle Company, made matters worse, attempting to monopolize the electric taxi business in American cities through what was then called the Lead Cab Trust, named after the lead that was an essential ingredient in the car batteries. The... [Pg.337]

A polar molecule has an electric dipole moment d, which for E-state molecules is directed along the internuclear axis Cab, that is, d = d ab- Here, d is the permanent dipole moment of a molecule in its electronic-vibrational ground state. This dipole moment gives rise to the dipole-dipole interaction between two molecules. [Pg.437]

Many presses are equipped with heated platens but when very deep tools are used it is often necessary to incorporate some means of direct tool heating, e.g. electrical cartridge heaters or circulating oil. Platen heating of the tools was used for the cab panels. [Pg.180]

To gain an indication of the most suitable aerodynamic shape for the cab a number of full-scale trials were undertaken using a mock-up cab fitted to the front of a conventional electric locomotive. The experimental cab was constructed from single-skin GRP and its nose angle, when fitted to the locomotive, made adjustable. Pressure sensing equipment was installed in the locomotive to record the optimum cab position under a variety of operating conditions tests indicated that an angle of 40° to the vertical was the most satisfactory. [Pg.185]

Non-foamed channels were easily incorporated into the cab shell to provide for services such as electrical conduit and air ducting. [Pg.193]
