Details are given of the addition of flame retardant and smoke suppressant additives to PVC to meet specifications such as oxygen index, heat release, smoke evolution or extent of burning in cable tests. Data are presented for synergistic combinations of additives in PVC formulations. 31 refs. 

After the tests have been completed, the cables should be identified with a colored label which clearly indicates its test status (see above). Wiring should be reconnected on completion of cable testing and recorded as such.

For practical reasons involving the length of measurement cables, tests on the prototype were performed with a 17 m long suspension device 15 m of Kevlar sling coimected to a 2m cord. At first sight, Daisy Bell was tested imder conditions less favourable than the final conditions of use. 

The cable test piece consists of ten untwisted strands of btu e copper wire moimted on a glass fiber-filled epoxy substrate with holes to allow flux residues to pass from the underside of the board to contaminate the cables on the topside during wave soldering. A DC power supply poleuizes the test pieces anodically with respect to the copper conductor track on the laminate.

It was first demonstrated in 1964, at the Cable testing station in Germany, that this anchorage will sustain the full ultimate load of the tendon without undergoing any plastic deformation itself since then, the proof has been repeated in at least 24 other ultimate tensile tests carried out on tendons. A supplementary test carried out by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Testing Materials and Research (BMPA), in order to establish the actual reserve bearing capacity of the anchor head, showed that the anchor with 163.7 mm... 

For special applications, such as deep-sea submersible cables, tests for breakdown resistance and performed at hydrostatic pressure, at high and low temperatures between 0 and 100.
