A mixture of 2.799 g ct>undec-8-ene-2,5-dione, 7 mL ethanol, and 25 mL 0.5 N NaOH was refluxed under nitrogen for 5 h. The mixture was cooled, extracted with pentane, washed with water, dried over Na2S04, and evaporated. The remaining oil (2.522 g) was distilled through a microspinning-band column at 80-100°C (bath temperature) and 0.05 mmHg pressure, giving 2.087 g of cA-jasmone.

CompositionJ. consists to about 50% of more volatile components of which benzyl acetate with ca. 30% is the main component. In addition, many other substances such as, e.g., linalool (ca. 5-10%), p-cresol (C7H8O, Mr 108.14) (ca. 2%), indole (ca. 3%), eugenol (ca. 3%), (Z)-jasmone (ca. 3%), and methyl jasmonate contribute to the typical odor.

After CTS signals enter the cytoplasm via receptors, the CTS signals are transmitted quickly and build up a complicated network. Much work has been done to elucidate this signal netwoik, but it is still unclear. According to previously published papers, Ca , ROS, nitric oxide (NO), abscisic acid (ABA), jasmonic acid (JA), and salicylic acid (SA) all take part in CTS signal pathway. 

This isolated example which echoes the hydrazone work of Enders ( SAMP and RAMP ) no doubt illustrates a more widely applicable principle. Closely related organotin enamines afford the same product (172) with acrylates but usually in poorer chemical and optical yields.A first example of an asymmetric additive Pummerer rearrangement, (173)— (174), an uncommon reaction in its racemic form, is featured in a new route to the 6-keto-ester, (-)-methyl jasmonate (175), having ca. 20% enantiomeric purity (Scheme 13).

Neroli oil is reported to contain linalool (ca. 34%) linalyl acetate (6-17%), limonene (15%), P-pinene (11%), nerolidol (6%), gera-niol, nerol, methyl anthranilate indole, and jasmone as well a small amounts of other compounds including citral, nonanal, cis-8-heptadecene, 2,5- dimethyl-2-vinyl-4-hex-enal, neryl acetate, and valeric acid, among others (guenther jiangsu list and horhammer merck remington).
