Pumping burners

Both gas and oil-fired heating systems consist of several subsystems. The oil burner pump draws fuel... [Pg.540]

Large sulfuric acid plants are based on spray burners, where the sulfur is pumped at 1030—1240 kPa (150—180 psig) through several nossles iato a refractory-lined combustion chamber. An improved nossle, resistant to plugging or fouling, has been iatroduced (256). The combustion chambers are typically horizontal baffle-fitted refractory-lined vessels. The largest plants ia fertiliser complexes bum up to 50 t/h of sulfur. [Pg.145]

Materials made of siHcon nitride, siHcon oxynitride, or sialon-bonded siHcon carbide have high thermal shock and corrosion resistance and may be used for pump parts, acid spray nozzles, and in aluminum reduction ceUs (156—159). A very porous siHcon carbide foam has been considered for surface combustion burner plates and filter media. It can also be used as a substrate carrying materials such as boron nitride as planar diffusion source for semiconductor doping appHcations. [Pg.469]

The steam used in this process is generated by the turbine exhaust gas. Typically, water at 14.7 psia (1 Bar) and 80 °F (26.7 °C) enters the pump and regenerator, where it is brought up to 60 psia (4 Bar) above the compressor discharge and the same temperature as the compressor discharged air. The steam is injected after the compressor but far upstream of the burner to create a proper mixture which helps to reduce the primary zone temperature in the combustor and the NO output. The enthalpy of State 3 hi,) is the mixture enthalpy of air and steam. The following relationship describes the flow at that point ... [Pg.78]

The results were not serious. The pumps supplied water to cool the hot gases leaving an incinerator when the water flow stopped, a high-temperature trip shut down the burner. The incinerator was nev/, was still undergoing tests, and the job had not been done before. The water was recycled, and ash in it probably caused the choke [40]. [Pg.43]

The furnace blower or boiler circulator pump starts up to send heated room air or hot water through the ducts or hot water pipes to the steam radiators, or hot water baseboard units, or individual room air registers located throughout the house. When the thermostat is satisfied that the room temperature has reached the set point, the burner shuts off. In furnaces, the blov er continues to run a few seconds until the air temperature drops to about 90° F, then the blower also shuts off. The furnace blower may come on again before the next burner start-up to purge heat out of the furnace, particularly if the fan has a low turn-on set point. The cycle... [Pg.541]

Although some integration has taken place where the appliance or boilermaker has assumed responsibility for the combustion system, overall, specialist manufacturers of combustion equipment who have developed products for each application such as boilers, furnaces, kilns and dryers, etc. serve the market. The burner makers have manufactured products which provide a packaged solution to the combustion requirement, looking after not just the burners and controls but also the fuel supply system, which may involve pumping, heating of the fuel, filtration and other peripheral equipment and functions. [Pg.372]

Electric boilers are generally inherently simpler to own and operate because there is no combustion system required (fuel tanks, pumps, burners, regulators, flame safeguards, etc.). Also space requirements are smaller and capital and maintenance costs often are lower. In addition, electric boilers typically do not require full-time operators. [Pg.24]

A 60% efficient pump driven by a 10 hp motor is used to transfer bunker C fuel oil from a storage tank to a boiler through a well-insulated line. The pressure in the tank is 1 atm, and the temperature is 100°F. The pressure at the burner in... [Pg.139]
