Since 1972, the Council of American Building Officials (CABO) has sei ved as the umbrella organization for BOCA, ICBO, and SBCCI. In November 1997, it was agreed to incorporate. CABO into the ICC. Responsibility for developing and maintaining the Model Energy Code (MEC) was transferred from CABO to the ICC in order to provide proper interface with the International Codes. 

The use of metal reinforcement embedded in the slab increases its strength. Woven wire mesh is the most common material for residential applications. For slabs on grade the Council of American Building Officials,32 One and Two Family Dwelling Code recommends 6x6 in.-W2.9 x W2.9 woven wire mesh. To help control cracking, it has been suggested that this is appropriate for a basement slab as well.

BOCA Building Officials and Code Administrators International... 

The International Code Council (ICC) was formed by the consolidation of three formerly separate fire code organizations International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), which had published the Uniform Fire Code under its fire service arm, the International Fire Code Institute (IFCI) Building Officials and Code Administrators (BOCA), which had published the National Fire Prevention Code and Southern Building Congress Code International (SBCCI), which had published the Standard Fire Prevention Code. When the three groups merged in 2000, in part to develop a common fire code, the individual codes became obsolete however, they are noted above since references to them may periodically surface. The consolidated code is IFC-2006, International Fire Code. 

Although the tunnel test is widely accepted, conditions and orientations involved are not those normally found in installed insulations. New laige-scale tests have been developed the results can be taken to represent actual performance more closely. Such tests include the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) and ASTM E603 full-scale room tests, ASTM E108 roofing test, the UL roof deck construction test, the Factory Mutual Calorimeter Test, and both alaige- and small-scale comer test.
