Building, defined

Validation of building. Define test functions and acceptance criteria for building finishes. [Pg.195]

Ligand displacement reactions with these phosphino ligands and transition metal complexes showed that only from the mono- and the two ortAo-functionalized octafalkyl/halogenalkylsilses-quioxanes) it is possible to build defined complexes (Eq. 1) [8]. [Pg.553]

The area containing the reactor building defined by a boundary and under effective control of the reactor management. [Pg.92]

As was said in the introduction (Section 2.1), chemical structures are the universal and the most natural language of chemists, but not for computers. Computers woi k with bits packed into words or bytes, and they perceive neither atoms noi bonds. On the other hand, human beings do not cope with bits very well. Instead of thinking in terms of 0 and 1, chemists try to build models of the world of molecules. The models ai e conceptually quite simple 2D plots of molecular sti uctures or projections of 3D structures onto a plane. The problem is how to transfer these models to computers and how to make computers understand them. This communication must somehow be handled by widely understood input and output processes. The chemists way of thinking about structures must be translated into computers internal, machine representation through one or more intermediate steps or representations (sec figure 2-23, The input/output processes defined... [Pg.42]

The method of building predictive models in QSPR/QSAR can also be applied to the modeling of materials without a unique, clearly defined structure. Instead of the connection table, physicochemical data as well as spectra reflecting the compound s structure can be used as molecular descriptors for model building,... [Pg.402]

ChemSketch has some special-purpose building functions. The peptide builder creates a line structure from the protein sequence defined with the typical three-letter abbreviations. The carbohydrate builder creates a structure from a text string description of the molecule. The nucleic acid builder creates a structure from the typical one-letter abbreviations. There is a function to clean up the shape of the structure (i.e., make bond lengths equivalent). There is also a three-dimensional optimization routine, which uses a proprietary modification of the CHARMM force field. It is possible to set the molecule line drawing mode to obey the conventions of several different publishers. [Pg.326]

You start building propanal using an sp C from the model kit Note that five dif ferent types of carbon are available Each is defined by a particular number of unfilled valences (these are used to make bonds) and a particular idealized geometry Valences that are not used for bonds are automatically turned into hydrogen atoms so it is nor mally unnecessary to build hydrogens into a model... [Pg.1259]

To obtain a reliable value of from the isotherm it is necessary that the monolayer shall be virtually complete before the build-up of higher layers commences this requirement is met if the BET parameter c is not too low, and will be reflected in a sharp knee of the isotherm and a well defined Point B. For conversion of into A, the ideal adsorptive would be one which is composed of spherically symmetrical molecules and always forms a non-localized film, and therefore gives the same value of on all adsorbents. Non-localization demands a low value of c as c increases the adsorbate molecules move more and more closely into registry with the lattice of the adsorbent, so that becomes increasingly dependent on the lattice dimensions of the adsorbent, and decreasingly dependent on the molecular size of the adsorbate. [Pg.103]

Cellular Protein Biosynthesis. The process of cellular protein biosynthesis is virtually the same in all organisms. The information which defines the amino acid sequence of a protein is encoded by its corresponding sequence of DNA (the gene). The DNA is composed of two strands of polynucleotides, each comprising some arrangement (sequence) of the four nucleotide building blocks of the nucleic acids adenine (A), thymine (T),... [Pg.196]

Factory Mutual provides loss prevention data sheets that explain how to protect buildings from wind damage. Pressure coefficients that define increased uplift at corners and edges adjust the calculated uplift pressures. A laboratory uplift pressure test rates roofing assemblies. An uplift pressure of 2.9 kPa (0.42 psi) must be withstood under FM conditions to meet the Class 1-60 requirements. The FM approval guide is revised aimuaHy (37). [Pg.217]

Elastic Behavior. Elastic deformation is defined as the reversible deformation that occurs when a load is appHed. Most ceramics deform in a linear elastic fashion, ie, the amount of reversible deformation is a linear function of the appHed stress up to a certain stress level. If the appHed stress is increased any further the ceramic fractures catastrophically. This is in contrast to most metals which initially deform elastically and then begin to deform plastically. Plastic deformation allows stresses to be dissipated rather than building to the point where bonds break irreversibly. [Pg.317]
