Bright-Field Illumination A kind of illumination for microscopy in which the illumination of a specimen is arranged so that transmitted light remains in the optical path of the microscope and is used to form the magnified image. This is different from the arrangement in Dark-Field Illumination. [Pg.722]

Most of the dissections are done with bright-field illumination, but at the end of the tissue dissociation, the use of dark-field illumination makes it easiest to see single cells. This is especially important to retrieve single cells from dissociated genital ridges. [Pg.197]

The annular mirror is, of course, a dark-field system seratehes on a polished metal surface, for example, appear. white on a dark field. The central mirror, on the other hand, is a bright-field system, and scratches on a polished metal appear dark on a bright field. Other vertical illuminators are capable only of bright-field illumination. These are simply objectives with a thin glass plate at 45° just above the top lens of the objective and with a side tube for an illuminating beam. [Pg.142]

With the bright-field illumination, the hght comes in perpendicular to the object surface. The object appears bright, with reduced shadows around the part. General-vision applications use this lighting configuration. [Pg.2673]
