Packaging bread

Weisel C, Demak M, Marcus S, et al. 1991. Soft plastic bread packaging Lead content and reuse by families. Am J Public Health 81(6) 756-758. [Pg.585]

Other polymers that can provide delayed-tack adhesives include styrene-butadiene copolymers, polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polyamides. Solid (crystalline) plasticizers for these adhesives include dicyclohexyl phthalate, diphenyl phthalate, A-cyclohexyl-p-toluene sulfonamide, and o/p-toluene sulfonamide. Adhesives with different heat-activation temperatures could be obtained because of the range of melting points available. Delayed-tack adhesives have a large number of uses, such as coating paper for labels on bread packages, cans, etc. [Pg.79]

Raw breaded fish portions—Portions are cut from frozen fish blocks, coated with a batter, breaded, packaged, and frozen. Raw breaded fish portions weigh more than 11/2 oz (42 g), are at least 3/8 in. (0.9 cm) thick, and must contain not less than 75% fish. They are ready to cook as purchased. [Pg.358]

Modified atmospheres that predominantly contain nitrogen are increasingly used in the packaging of fresh pasta, nuts (qv), potato chips, dry goods (such as coffee), breads, and prepared salads to extend shelf-life. [Pg.80]

Most of the long, scary-sounding chemicals listed on packages of supermarket bread are actually made from other foods they are added to prevent the starch in the bread from changing, oxidizing, or becoming moldy. [Pg.151]

If the research as to likely organic products that will sell comes up with a series of negatives, then the farmer has to fall back on his own creativity. As Finke (1989) pointed out, he could not persuade any bakery in the nearby towns in Ireland to bake organic bread from his flour they said there was no market. However, he finally persuaded one bakery to bake it, on contract, provided he did the selling. They agreed, he got the packaging printed and after five months they had sold 10 000 loaves to various shops in the town. After the consumer preference had been demonstrated, there was no longer a problem with the bakers. [Pg.129]

Aluminum lakes of P.0.17 l are available in the USA. Properties which are pertinent to the coloristics and application of the pigment parallel those of the barium lakes. P.O,17 l, an equally high strength pigment, also affords brilliant shades and is used in packaging prints, especially for paraffin-based wrapping paper for bread. [Pg.322]

He placed the bread and the pie back upon the table and stood looking at them long and earnestly. He knew of one who needed them far more than he did, a poor widow over in the hollow, whose five small children, sickly, starved little creatures, were more than half the time crying with cold and hunger. He opened the package of tobacco, filled his pipe and sat down in his chair by the stove to smoke and think. [Pg.5]

Plastic materials are the main components of food packages used for dairy products, baked goods, breads, beverages, breakfast cereals, confectionery, pasta, and other miscellaneous food products (Table 14.1). [Pg.317]

Packaging films (extruded, blown, and cast) are used in pressure-sensitive tapes and electrical applications and as replacements for cellophane and glassine films in liners for cereal boxes, wraps for snack foods, cigarettes, bread, and cheese. Blow-molded containers are used in applications where the higher use temperature of polypropene is needed (compared to HDPE), such as in packaging of syrups that are hot-filled. [Pg.698]

Sorensen and Skogestad (1994) developed control strategies for BREAD processes by repetitive simulation strategy using a simple model in SPEEDUP package. Wilson and Martinez (1997) developed EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) based composition estimator to control BREAD processes. The estimator was found to be quite robust and was able to estimate composition within acceptable accuracy, even in the face of process/model mismatches. Balasubramhanya and Doyle III... [Pg.272]

PP possesses good water vapor barrier and fat resistance properties. Normal PP films have limited food packaging applications (e.g. packaging of bread) because of their low cold temperature resistance. Copolymer mixtures with ethylene are used to improve cold resistance and heat sealability as well as material strength and, above all, seal strength. [Pg.26]
