Braun studies

PANELIST BLOOM I don t know of any effort toward expanding an effort like C. F. Braun s. We have a new contractor/monitor of gasification programs, or maybe even broader than that, in the UOP SDC contract with fossil fuel. I don t know what their emission is in this regard. The C. F. Braun studies were part of the... [Pg.118]

Bowmer and Tonelli [161] have also studied the thermal characteristics of the whole range of ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymers prepared by partial reductive dechlorination of PVC using tri-n-butyltin-hydride. Naqvi [162] has substantiated further his explanations for the thermal stability characteristics of ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymers reported by Braun et al. [159] using the results of Bowmer and Tonelli [161] as a basis. [Pg.334]

Citric acid fermentation of cane-molasses is by submerged fermentation in a 21 biostat (B. Braun) stirred fermenter. A strain of Aspergillus niger is the most widely used for commercial production. A. niger is also highly recommended in the present study, which can obtained from the American Type Culture Collection, Rockville, Maryland, USA. Molasses... [Pg.280]

The results of metabolism studies with laboratory animals and livestock indicate that endosulfan does not bioconcentrate in fatty tissues and milk. Lactating sheep administered radiolabeled endosulfan produced milk containing less than 2% of the label. Endosulfan sulfate was the major metabolite in milk (Gorbach et al. 1968). A half-life of about 4 days was reported for endosulfan metabolites in milk from survivors of a dairy herd accidentally exposed to acutely toxic concentrations of endosulfan endosulfan sulfate accounted for the bulk of the residues detected in the milk (Braun and Lobb 1976). No endosulfan residues were detected in the fatty tissue of beef cattle grazed on endosulfan-treated pastures for 31-36 days (detection limits of 10 ppm for endosulfan, 40 ppm for endosulfan diol) the animals began grazing 7 days after treatment of the pastures. Some residues were detected in the fatty tissue of one animal administered 1.1 mg/kg/day of endosulfan in the diet for 60 days. No endosulfan residues were... [Pg.227]

Organotin stabilisers in PVC compositions were determined by means of TLC [518]. The determination of inorganic species (down to ppb range) by TLC has been reviewed on several occasions [519,520]. Instrumental methods successful in the quantitative estimation of inorganic TLC zones directly on the plate are densitometry, fluorimetry, radiometry, planimetry and visual methods. In the framework of recycling studies, in particular as to metal stabilisers in PVC, Braun and Richter... [Pg.230]

Labeled muramine (395) was synthesized for biosynthetic studies from tetrahydropalmatine (27) in 35% overall yield via the von Braun reaction product 30c (Section II,A,2) and the alcohol 403 (Scheme 76) (42). Labeled 13-oxygenated muramines 405a and 405b were obtained by oxidation of dihydropalmatine metho salt (404) with osmium tetroxide (42). [Pg.203]

An alternative to the rotating disk method in a quiescent fluid is a stationary disk placed in a rotating fluid. This method, like the rotating disk, is based on fluid mechanics principles and has been studied using benzoic acid dissolving into water [30], Khoury et al. [31] applied the stationary disk method to the study of the mass transport of steroids into dilute polymer solutions. Since this method assumes that the rotating fluid near the disk obeys solid body rotation, the stirring device and the distance of the stirrer from the disk become important considerations when it is used. A similar device was developed by Braun and Parrott [32], who used stationary spherical tablets in a stirred liquid to study the effect of various parameters on the mass transport of benzoic acid. [Pg.114]

Mainly the outer membrane ferrichrome receptor and transporter FhuA will be discussed because most structural and functional studies have been performed with this protein. In fact, FhuA was the first outer membrane protein identified (called TonA), with known functions as a phage and colicin receptor, that are related to iron transport (for a historical account, see Braun and Hantke 1977). [Pg.96]
