The determination of errors in the slope a and the intercept b of the regression line together with multiple and curvilinear regression is beyond the scope of this book but references may be found in the Bibliography, page 156. [Pg.146]

It should be noted that in this example the performance of only one variable, the three analysts, is investigated and thus this technique is called a one-way ANOVA. If two variables, e.g. the three analysts with four different titration methods, were to be studied, this would require the use of a two-way ANOVA. Details of suitable texts that provide a solution for this type of problem and methods for multivariate analysis are to be found in the Bibliography, page 156. [Pg.149]

Most research papers today use a parenthetical documentation style, as illustrated in the MLA and APA sections of this chapter. However, in the event you face a writing situation that calls for use of traditional footnotes and bibliography page, here is a brief description of that format. This section will also help you understand the citation system of older documents you may be reading, especially those using Latin abbreviations. [Pg.409]

Some documents use endnotes that appear in a list on a page immediately following the end of the essay, before the Bibliography page. [Pg.409]

Sources are listed by author in alphabetical order (or by title if no author exists) on a Bibliography page at the end of the document. [Pg.410]

It is regretted that the size of the volume has rendered the insertion of literature references impossible the Selected Bibliography (A,5) may partly compensate for this omission. Section numbers are now included in the headings of the pages—a feature introduced in response to requests by many readers. The volume comprises virtually at least three books under one cover, viz., experimental technique, preparations, and qualitative organic analysis. It should therefore continue to be of value as a one volume reference work in the laboratory. Students at all levels will find their requirements for laboratory work (excluding quantitative organic analysis) adequately provided for and, furthermore, the writer hopes that the book will be used as a source of information to supplement their theoretical studies. [Pg.1192]

All the references for all the chapters in a given volume are collected together in a merged list at the end of that volume (where they are most easily located). There are no separate chapter bibliographies. In the final list, references are given both in code and in full conventional form, with authors names. They appear in an ordered sequence, numerically by year, then alphabetically by journal code, and then by page number. Cross references to the text citation are also given in the reference list. [Pg.5]

A limited number of therm ogravimetric experiments are outlined below. For more detailed information on these and other studies the reader is referred to the publications listed in the Bibliography at the end of Part D, page 499. [Pg.497]

Each question is accompanied by an answer, a paragraph explanation, and a specific page reference to an appropriate textbook. A bibliography listing sources can be found following the last chapter. [Pg.9]

Brackets and braces indicate bibliography references and pages of the book where the subject items are defined, considered, or used. [Pg.192]

Brackets indicate corresponding bibliography references (pages of the book on which the references are mentioned see in Bibliography). [Pg.196]

Primary sources make any research paper vital and exciting. They are always rmique and provide you with the opportunity to draw your own conclusions. Secondary sources are valuable, but always check key strategic places before sitting down to read an entire book that may or may not be valuable to your work. The table of contents, index, bibliography, and footnotes should specifically mention your topic by name, give you precise chapters or page numbers to consult, or list other helpful books. [Pg.47]

This statement is documented with the author s last name and the page number from the book in parentheses. In the bibliography (also known as the list of Works Cited), the book s title, publisher, place of publication, and publication date is included and follows standard bibliographic format. If you have included several works by the same author, include the title in the parentheses in order to avoid confusion. Here s an example of this format ... [Pg.103]

An extensive bibliography [10] of the older IMS literature, from 1939 to 1994, exists as a pdf file. It has about 674 references in 58 pages. There is no retrieval information in the file. Inquiries can be made to P.J. Rodacy, Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico. [Pg.218]

Also included are a few pages for quick reference to acronyms and abbreviations, plus one to define all the explosives mentioned in the text. This section is called Definitions, Symbols, and Abbreviations. The Bibliography collects all the references cited in the text and adds a few. A Subject Index completes the work. [Pg.391]

Exam-pie Adams, C. E., 64 (ref. 78), 80, indicates that this author s article is reference 78 on page 64 and is listed in the bibliography on page 80. [Pg.269]

Once you have found sources you think you will use for your research, you should make a list of your sources. You will use the list later for your Bibliography or Works Cited list. Some people make a separate index card for each source. Others just prepare a numbered list of the sources or make a folder for each source with a photocopy of the copyright page on top. You can also use computer software that is made to specifically orga-... [Pg.141]

Parenthetical notation. This method allows you to credit your sources in the body of your paper. After the information you want to credit, you give the author s name and the page number in parentheses. The reader can find the actual source by going to your Works Cited or Bibliography at the end of the paper. Here s an example of what a parenthetical notation looks like (remember to follow the style guide that your teacher recommends—it may differ slightly from the one below). [Pg.145]
