A nonprofit international association of companies engaged in the mining, smelting and refining of bismuth. 

European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC) 

A scientific, non-profit making, non-commercial association, financed by 50 of the leading companies with interests in the manufacture and use of chemicals. It provides a scientific forum through which the European chemical industry can research, review, assess and publish studies on the ecotoxicology and toxicology of chemicals.

The National system of testing and ealibration laboratories accreditation is established in Belarus from July 1, 1994. The System of accreditation is specified in the series of standards CTB 941.0-93 - CTB 941.3- 93, CTB 941.4-95, CTB 941.5-96. 

Certification of NDT personnel is mandatory in Belarus and is realised in compliance with CTB EH 473-95.

The main requirements to the assurance of traceability are specified in Belarus in the law Assurance of Measurement Traceability . 

Accepted NDT devices are entered in State register of mesurement equipment allowed for use on the territory of Belarus and the certificates of the device type are isssued. 

The main tasks of metrological maintenance of NDT equipment and standard blocks on compliance with standard of Belarus CTB 8004-93 are ... 

The service for calibration is not established yet in Belarus. Calibration is voluntary and is realised either by metrological service of the plant or by any authorised organisation.

A much more serious nuclear accident occurred at Chernobyl in the USSR on April 26, 1986, when one of the Chernobyl units experienced a full-core meltdown. The Chernobyl accident has been called the worse disaster of the industrial age. An area comprising more than 60,000 square miles in the Ukraine and Belarus was contaminated, and more than 160,000 people were evacuated. However, wind and water have spread the contamination, and many radiation-related illnesses, birth defects, and miscarriages have been attributed to the Chernobyl disaster.
