Base substrate

The cuprocyanide plating bath is invaluable in numerous similar cases where a base substrate cannot be plated directly with the chosen coating. Steels, brass, bronze, beryllium copper and other substrates are copper... [Pg.351]

The process illustrated in Figure 4.6 was developed to production scale with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year. This process, developed by British Petroleum, was one of several in Europe and Japan that, although fully developed, was never operated substrate commercially. This was due to sharply increased substrate costs in 1973 and political costs and social pressures against the use of petroleum-based substrates (possibly contaminated with carcinogenic or toxic compounds). Such systems do operate in the former USSR, producing Candida guilliermondii as feed. [Pg.87]

The coupling reaction of 1 (M=Zn) affords CPO 3 (M=Zn) in 55% yield in the presence of template 2 however, the absence of 2 decreases the yield to 34% [22]. With the increase of yield of 3, template 2 induces the selectivity of the reaction the yield of the by-product (cychc dimer 4 (M=Zn)) was changed from 23% (with no template) to 6% (in the presence of template). A similar CPO formation reaction was reported for the corresponding ruthenium porphyrins (3, M=Ru(CO)), in which the stability constant of the Ru-N coordination bond is 10 larger than that of the Zn-N coordination bond [23]. Although the transition state of the CPO produced by the ruthenium-based substrate is expected to be more stable than that produced by ZnPor, the yield of 3 (M=Ru(CO)) is only... [Pg.73]

In the next paper by Y. Illin et al., capabilities of Sn anodes are considered as a possible alternative to carbon. Thin films of Sn were deposited onto current collector in vacuum, and tested in the coin cells. Authors were able to obtain reversible alloying reaction, which stabilized at 100 mAh/g between cycle number 100 and 400. The stability of Sn and its characteristics upon cycling was seen to be a function of the current collector material. The best results were achieved with non-copper-based substrates. [Pg.309]

We used recombinant DNA technology to design unique substrates for in vitro expansion of rat NSCs. For example, we fused a small peptide sequence of six consecutive histidine (His) residues to the C-terminus of human EGF (EGF-His). This EGF-His was anchored to the surface of a glass-based substrate by coordination with Ni2+ ions, which were fixed on the surface of a SAM of alkanethiol. Strikingly, neither a covalently immobilized EGF-His nor a physically adsorbed... [Pg.179]

The deposition of CBD CdS as a junction layer for solar cell devices has proven to be a very successful industrially acceptable technique. Kessler et al.13 reported on copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) mini-modules (area = 16cm2) with a conversion efficiency of 16.6%, wherein CBD CdS was used as a junction layer. Basol et al.14 fabricated 9.3% active-area efficient thin-film flexible CuInSe2 (CIS) solar cells (specific power >1 kW/kg) on lightweight, flexible metallic, and polymeric (polymide-based) substrates using CBD CdS. [Pg.200]

The pure ceria films were textured with out-of-plane (Aco) and in-plane (A) mosaic dispersions as low as 3.8° (Fig. 7.15a) and 6.1 ° (Fig. 7.15b), respectively. Although the out-of-plane angular dispersion increased from 3.8° to 5.10 when Sm doping was increased, a significant improvement was achieved in both out-of-plane and in-plane texture when compared with the Ni-based substrates i.e., Aco = 7.9° and A = 7.6° (Fig. 7.16). [Pg.224]

SOI Silicon on Insulator material is today s most advanced Silicon-based substrate technology it is basically Silicon material with an integrated insulation layer underneath a single crystal Si layer. It combines most of the advantages of the most well established Silicon technology with high radiation, media and temperature compatibility. [Pg.200]

Finally, the intramolecular coupling reaction between an olefin and a pyrrole ring has been examined (Scheme 40). In this example, a 66% isolated yield of the six-membered ring product was obtained. A vinyl sulfide moiety was used as the olefin participant and the nitrogen protected as the pivaloyl amide in order to minimize the competition between substrate and product oxidation. Unlike the furan cyclizations, the anodic oxidation of the pyrrole-based substrate led mainly to the desired aromatic product without the need for subsequent treatment with acid. [Pg.76]
