Bards

The method used here is based on a general application of the maximum-likelihood principle. A rigorous discussion is given by Bard (1974) on nonlinear-parameter estimation based on the maximum-likelihood principle. The most important feature of this method is that it attempts properly to account for all measurement errors. A discussion of the background of this method and details of its implementation are given by Anderson et al. (1978). [Pg.97]

SECM is a scaiming-probe teclmiqiie introduced by Bard et aJ in 1989 [49, and M ] based on previous studies by the same group on in situ STM [ ] and simultaneous work by Engstrom et aJ [53 and M], who were the first to show that an amperometric microelectrode could be used as a local probe to map the concentration profile of a larger active electrode. SECM may be envisaged as a chemical microscope based on faradic current changes as a microelectrode is moved across a surface of a sample. It has proved iisefiil for... [Pg.1940]

Dir, whereas for small distances d < r), /r Did. The large effective obtainable enables fast heterogeneous reaction rates to be measured under steady-state conditions. Zhou and Bard measured a rate constant of 6 x 10 Ms for the electro-hydrodimerization of acrylonitrile (AN) and observed the short-lived intennediate AN for this process [65]. [Pg.1942]
