For tabletted materials, homogenization is more problematic since if the tablet was homogenized, it would also be destroyed. For this reason, a sample is taken from the tablet and gently scraped from the dose form, away from any ballistic features which are likely to be of use in subsequent examinations. The powder is then thoroughly homogenized prior to testing. 

This is because it may be necessary to compare samples at a later date, especially if tablet databases have been established. If the ballistics features are destroyed during the sampling process, they cannot subsequently be recovered.

There are several individual and serial case reports of patients with tumors and extrapyramidal features such as chorea, ballistic movements, and dystonia [35, 63-65]. Again, SCLC is the most common associated tumor, but renal cancer and lymphoma are also reported [65].
