Background for case-study

This example is based on calculation of the total average adult daily uptake of unspecified congeners of PBLx per unit body weight from both freshwater and marine water fish and shellfish, according to the following formula  [Pg.111]

The case-study supposes (1) full agreement about characterization of the issue among stakeholders, (2) well defined objectives of the assessment and (3) adequate communication and understanding by stakeholders and peers of the purpose of the exposure assessment, which is anticipated to be characteristic of circumstances for most regulatory applications. [Pg.111]

Eight elements on which the scenario was based were considered in this case-study. Eating patterns may change seasonally, but this element has not been considered. Other aspects that have not been considered include handling and treatment prior to consumption (e.g. supermarket, household cooking, frying). The eight elements are as follows  [Pg.111]

1) Sources Two sources are considered (i) freshwater fish and shellfish and (ii) marine water fish and shellfish. [Pg.112]

2) Chemical PBLx a persistent, bioaccumulative and lipid-soluble chemical, for which unspecified congeners were considered. [Pg.112]
