Investigating phenotypic diversity is not easy. A basic requirement is to have different lines of parasite available and in natural host species. However, being aware of the possibility of variation between individual worms would be a start. The few studies that have molecularly considered individual worms (Bianco et al., 1990 Fraser and Kennedy, 1990 Currie et al., 1998) have found variation between individual worms. Such variation may be the basis of some experimental noise . Perhaps efforts should be focused on this noise The phenotypic diversity that exists in natural, and even laboratory, populations of nematodes is maintained there by natural selection. This tells us, anthropomorphically, that such diversity matters to parasitic nematodes. It is hoped that this chapter has shown that it should also matter to us. 

Awareness is the ghost in the machine, the part of us that is not an obvious, persistent structure instead, it takes in information from all these other subsystems. It is a quality that inherently defies clear verbal definition because a verbal definition calls for the use of learned language structures, and awareness is more basic than any such structure. We seldom experience pure awareness rather, we experience awareness as it is focused on and mixed with various activities of structures, the learned categories of recognizing and thinking. Thus, in Figure 5-1 awareness is shown as a dotted box to indicate that its quality is quite different from the more concrete structures that correspond to other psychological functions. 

To understand the constructed system we call a state of consciousness, we begin with some theoretical postulates based on human experience. The first postulate is the existence of a basic awareness. Because some volitional control of the focus of awareness is possible, we generally refer to it as attention/awareness. we must also recognize the existence of self-awareness, the awareness of being aware. 

Now that you have some awareness of what will be expected of you on the AP test, let s review the material in the chapter. There are far too many chemical reactions to worry about memorizing individual reactions. Instead, you should focus your attention on learning the identifying characteristics of the different types of reactions so that you can more effectively predict the possible products. In addition, you should learn the basic mechanisms for each type of equation to help you with your response. 

Basic awareness is the ultimate essence of any state of consciousness, so within-state enlightenment would include the ability to focus awareness as desired, within the limits of the natural capacity of that state. Such limits should be found by effort, not by preestablished beliefs that might artificially limit the capacity. Ideally any aspect of the state, or the... 

Other states if you desire, implies some aspect of consciousness, of our basic awareness, that transcends any particular state we are in at the time. The nature of that quality is of profound interest, and understanding and cultivating it are a prime focus of this book. 

These are the prime building blocks of manifest existence. Awareness withdraws deeper within as the mind s functions are quieted by the simplicity of a universe composed, in it s entirety, of only four basic elements. Without the interference of restless and undirected thought, awareness is contracted and refined, like the sun s light focused and intensified through the magnifying glass of the concentrated mind. Focused on the root (metaphorically) it ignites. 

The focus of this project is to establish the basic principle that a selective need to know visual warning indicator would be more effective in maintaining hygiene levels than is currently the case and that, if it is possible to develop a contamination aware textile surface, to produce proof of concept, possibly in garment or curtain form as a prototype for trials in a healthcare environment.
