Light focusing

Light-focusing plastic rods and other optical devices with graduated refractive indexes may use DADC and other monomers (29). Preparation and properties of plastic lenses from CR-39 are reviewed in reference 30. [Pg.83]

Other examples of DAP copolymerizations of industrial interest include copolymerization with MMA in emulsion (50) and for light focusing rods (51) with vinyl naphthalene for lenses (52) with epoxy acrylates and glass fibers (53) epoxy acrylates and coatings (54) with diacetone acrylamide (55) with ahphatic diepoxide compounds (56) triaHyl cyanurate in lacquers for printed circuits (57) and DAIP with MMA (58). [Pg.85]

Calcination of Antimony, a, the table b, the mirror, which can be raised or lowered c, the stone or the slab, on which is placed the powdered antimony d, the adept adjusting the mirror and moving the antimony e, the light focused by the mirror. [Pg.97]

The details of spectroscopic instrumentation belong in a book dedicated to the subject, but it is still important that you have a feel for the nature of the experiment. The basic elements of many types of instruments, including IR spectrometers, are illustrated in Figure 7-7. First, you need a source of radiation in the appropriate frequency range and then you need to get the light focused on... [Pg.172]

These are the prime building blocks of manifest existence. Awareness withdraws deeper within as the mind s functions are quieted by the simplicity of a universe composed, in it s entirety, of only four basic elements. Without the interference of restless and undirected thought, awareness is contracted and refined, like the sun s light focused and intensified through the magnifying glass of the concentrated mind. Focused on the root (metaphorically) it ignites. [Pg.48]

Fig. 6.) [57-59]. The container is shaken at a high frequency and the surface of the powder is brought back in the light focus before the next laser pulse. A few ps after the laser hits the target no emission from the plasma itself is observed, and the excitation laser pulse can be applied (Fig. 7.). [Pg.291]

The sample is located on one of the diamonds with the incident white light focused on it (Fig. 3.33). Small as the incident spot may be, some stray light... [Pg.102]

The photostability is an important parameter of water-soluble fluorescent markers for immunoanalysis. The higher photostability allows to utilize more powerful sources of light (focused laser beams instead of Hg and halogen lamps) and reduce the amount of markers necessary for the signal detection down to single molecule/nanocrystal per object. Nanocrystals solubilized with mercaptoacetic and mercaptoundecanoic acids have been choosen to examine their photostability. [Pg.302]

Therefore, using a pump Intensity of about 4 kw/cmj (which can be easily obtained by lightly focused laser beam with powers on the order of 1 Watt), one could obtain an amplification factor of exp (10). This would be more than sufficient to convert the spontaneous scattering noise to a coherent stimulated beam. [Pg.130]

Figure 11.2 shows a characteristic negative ion mass spectrum for a Demnum-S65 sample n) = 25) on an Au surface. Only the mass peaks above 1000 Da are shown all lower mass ions were ejected with a SWIFT waveform for this spectrum. Fall-off of the peak intensities below 1200 Da is due to the limited resolution of the SWIFT waveform. The spectrum was taken with 0.5 mj/ pulse of 193-nm light focused to a 100 um diameter spot and averaged over six spots on the sample for 500 shots/spot. No positive ions were generated xmder these conditions. [Pg.537]

A light-focusing component (focuser) is the simplest and still-important component. We first discuss a simple focuser composed of a single lens. The diffraction limit of the focused spot is given by... [Pg.121]
