Association rules

There are useful mles of thumb for finding objects, attributes, and actions. Looking through existing documents (business requirements, user manuals, and so on), map nouns to object types, verbs to actions, static relationships to associations, rules to static and dynamic invariants, and variations to subtypes or other refinements. 

While most combinatorial researches reported up to now involve the use of GA, using the traditional crossover and mutation operators (e.g. WGS 1), it has also been proposed to design new operators for each specific application, to improve search efficiency by means of knowledge extraction [32]. Hence, new methods that combine ES with a knowledge extraction engine have been reported recently within the field of heterogeneous catalysis, such as mining association rules [12, 18, 30, 33] and neural networks [19, 29, 34].

Most receiving labs will have a prescribed format as to how samples should be transported consistent with IATA (International Air Transport Association) rules. The essential part of this requires the packer to be trained to IATA standards. The documentation from the receiving lab should define package type and required amount of dry ice to sample ratio (based on the expected duration of transport). 

Association rules are among the most popular representations for local structures or patterns in data mining [3]. These patterns are inferred without prior knowledge of predefined classes. A rule consists of a left-hand side proposition called the antecedent and a right-hand side called the consequent. A typical example rule is shown below [14] ...

Irreducible multiple products of several standard sets are constructed by applying Eq. (10) to two factors at a time. Floyd Landis carried on where Lance Armstrong left off, winning the 2006 Tour de France. Unfortunately, on stage 17 Landis tested positive for an elevated level of testosterone. Samples were later shown to include synthetic testosterone. In September of 2007, the American Arbitration Association ruled that the evidence presented in May of 2007 was conclusive that Landis sample taken after stage 17 of the 2006 Tour de France indicated he had commited a doping infraction. Floyd Landis was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title and is currently serving a two-year suspension. 

Association rules link the values of a group of attributes, or variables, with the value of a particular attribute of interest which is not included in the group. 

An Association Rule associates the values of a given set of attributes with the value of another attribute from outside that set. In addition, the rule may contain information about the frequency with which the attribute values are associated with each other. For example, such a rule might say that 75% of men, between 50 and 55 years old, in management positions, take out additional pension plans. ... 

Along with the Association Rule we have a confidence threshold and a support threshold. Confidence measures the ratio of the number of entities in the database with the designated values of the attributes in both A and B to the number with the designated values of the attributes in A. The support for the Association Rule is simply the proportion of entities within the whole database that take the designated values of the attributes in A and B.
