Aromatic compounds metal-containing

For conversion of functionalized diorganozincs into tertiary amines, aromatic compounds which contain a directed metallation group, such as Af,Af-dialkylbenzamides, methoxymethyl phenyl ether, phenyl oxazolines and phenyl Af,Af-dialkylcarbamates, were ortho-lithiated, transmetallated and then aminated with 2a in good yields, but with a slower reaction rate (Scheme 19). 

In Section 16.5, a few other C,C coupling reactions of alkenes and of aromatic compounds, which contain an sp2—OTf, an sp2—Br, or an sp2—Cl bond, will be discussed because these C,C couplings and the preceding ones are closely related mechanistically. These substrates, however, react with metal-free alkenes. Palladium complexes again serve as the catalysts. 

More recently, activity in the held of the preparation of phthalocyanine-like compounds useful in material science concentrated on compounds containing only one triazole subunit (triazolophthalocyanines) 89 [94JCS(CC)1525 95ICA(230)153].These aromatic compounds (without or with metals in the cavity) present a problem of annular tautomerism of triazoles, but as yet it is known only that the NH is outside the cavity. 

Tetrahalobenzynes, however, react with a variety of aromatic compounds to afford tetrahalobenzobarrelene derivatives in good yields, frequently in the range of 55 to 75%. The dehalogenation of a variety of alkenyl chlorides with alkali metals in tetrahydrofu-ran containing tert-butyl alcohol suggested this approach to the dechlorination of tetrachlorobenzobarrelenes. 

About 100 gal of process wastewater is typically generated from 1 t of coke produced.15 These wastewaters from byproduct coke making contain high levels of oil and grease, ammonia nitrogen, sulfides, cyanides, thiocyanates, phenols, benzenes, toluene, xylene, other aromatic volatile components, and polynuclear aromatic compounds. They may also contain toxic metals such as antimony, arsenic, selenium, and zinc. Water-to-air transfer of pollutants may take place due to the escape of volatile pollutants from open equalization and storage tanks and other wastewater treatment systems in the plant. 

Crude oil consists mainly of a mixture of paraffinic, naphthenic, and aromatic hydrocarbons with small amounts of metals-containing heterocyclic compounds. The desorption and vapor extraction system (DAVES) uses a low-temperature fluidized bed to remove volatile and semivolatile organics such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polynuclear aromatic compounds (PAHs), pentachlorophenol (PCP), volatile inorganics (tetraethyl lead), and some pesticides from soil, sludge, and sediment. The process generally treats waste containing less than 10% total organic contaminants and 30 to 95% solids. The process does not treat nonvolatile inorganic contaminants such as metals. 

Road traffic emissions consist of particulate (PM) and gaseous emissions, with active carbonaceous products present in both phases. Particles contain potentially toxic components, such as polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAHs) and trace metallic elements [4-6], which are related to acute and chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases [7]. Some studies suggest that especially diesel exhaust emissions are responsible for cardiac hospital admissions [8] and for asthma and chronic bronchitis development in children [9] in densely populated cities. Also fine and coarse particles from non-exhaust sources have been associated with short-term mortality and morbidity [10-13].
