Approval of package designs

Approval of package designs to contain uranium hexafluoride [Pg.200]

The approval of packages designed to carry non-fissile or fissile excepted uranium hexafluoride in quantities greater than 0.1 kg is a new lequiranent, introduced [Pg.200]

Where intermittent venting of Type B(M) packages is required, a complete description of the procedures and controls should be submitted to the competent authority for approval. Further advice may be found in paras 666.1-666.6. [Pg.201]

The information provided to the competent authority with the application for approval is required to detail the demonstration of compliance with each requirement of paras 671 and 673-682. In particular, the information should include the items specifically quoted in the competent authority approval certificate as detailed in para. 833(m). The inclusion of appropriate information on any experiments, calculations or reasoned arguments used to demonstrate the subcriticality of the individual package or of arrays of packages is acceptable. Sufficient information should be submitted to permit the competent authority to verify compliance of the package with these regulations. [Pg.202]

Each Type B(U) and Type C package design shall require unilateral [Pg.113]

The competent authority shall establish an approval certificate stating that [Pg.113]

Each Type B(M) package design, including those for fissile material which are also subject to paras 812-814 and those for low dispersible radioactive material, shall require multilateral approval. [Pg.114]

An application for approval of a Type B(M) package design shall include, in addition to the information required in para. 807 for Type B(U) packages  [Pg.114]

The role of the regulatory body in relation to transport will normally include requirements relating to the approval of package designs, the approval... [Pg.64]

Regarding the requirement for competent authority approval for packages designed to contain fissile material, it is noted that para. 672 excludes certain packages from those requirements that apply specifically to fissile material. However, all relevant requirements that apply to the radioactive, non-fissile properties of the package contents still apply. [Pg.199]

Note 1 Before the first shipment of any package requiring competent authority approval of the design, the consignor shall ensure that a copy of the approval certificate for that design has been submitted to the competent authority of each country (see para. 558 of the Regulations). [Pg.131]

Covers package design, approval, test procedures, notification of consignment, information requirements (for package and transport container). [Pg.444]

Description or designation of the container or containers, of the type of packaging, label and approved package insert and, if necessary, the designation of the closure systems to be used ... [Pg.446]
