Because it is concave and elliptical, the secondary mirror of a Gregorian telescope allows for simpler fabrication test set-ups, as a point-like source placed at one of the foci of the ellipse should be re-imaged aberration-free at the other focus. Convex hyperbolic mirrors require more complex set-ups. This disadvantage is usually more than balanced by the more compact arrangement, the savings implied by the shorter telescope structure and more compact enclosure offsetting the additional cost and complexity of the secondary mirror test set-up. In applying the PEEP index concept to sets of industrial effluents thus far, wastewater samples have been filtered prior to bio-analysis (see Section 5.1). Hence, only their soluble toxicity potential is taken into consideration. This is certainly a drawback at this time as toxic and genotoxic potential linked to suspended matter of some industrial plant effluents, for example, have been shown to be important (White et ah, 1996 Pardos and Blaise, 1999). Particulate toxicity in effluent samples should certainly be addressed in future PEEP applications, as soon as reliable small-scale toxicity tests are developed and available to estimate it. Indeed, the issue of soluble and particulate toxicity is especially relevant in relation to technology-based reduction of hazardous liquid emissions. 

The test conditions for this Microscale Simulation Test (MST) correspond to the low vapor contact times as applied in today s FCC riser technology. An effective feed preheat and feed dispersion is ensured, while the isothermal reactor bed is set to the dominating kinetic temperature in the riser, being approximately the feed catalyst mix temperature. The MST conditions enable the testing of high Conradson Carbon residue feedstocks. 

It is essential that test-kits are used for the intended purpose in a specific matrix. Thus test-kits can limit the applications in which the technology can be applied. In some cases, it will be necessary to set up an in-house assay format for which it will be necessary to buy the separate individual immunoreagents, such as antibodies, enzyme-tracer or analyte-derivative protein conjugates. In some cases this is difficult because the quality and supply are not always guaranteed. A recent list of antibody manufacturers, suppliers and services is given by Blow, 2007. 

Inhibitors may also be generated by the use of molecular evolution. This technology has been successfully applied to thrombin [29]. In brief, a synthetic scheme is chosen that potentially enables the synthesis of a very large combinatorial library in this case, a three-component Ugi-type reaction was selected.
