Recycled and waste thermoplastics are some of the major components of global municipal solid waste (MSW) and they present a promising raw material source for WPG, especially because of the large volume and low cost of these materials. As detailed in Table 5.1, high-density polyethylene (HOPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE)/linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), PP, PET, PS and PVG are the primary constituents of plastics in MSW.
