It has been reported that prolonged exposure to concentrations of 20-45 ppm of 2-nitropropane caused nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and severe headaches among workers. A considerable number of detailed descriptions on synthesis, production, and applications of epoxy resins exists. Because the aim of this chapter is the application of cationic initiators, and more particularly photoinitiators, to the polymerization of epoxies leading to cross-linked products (curing reaction), only litterature dealing with these aspects will be cited. In this paper, the current seismic retrofitting systems for reinforced concrete piers/columns and bridge-falling prevention systems at the abutments and piers in Japan were studied.
