Application for research

To validate critical studies, such as long-term and reproduction toxicity studies, submitted to INDs or NDAs. These studies are selected at each center from master schedules collected in the course of previous GLP inspections or from reviews prepared by the pharmacologist responsible for evaluating applications for research and marketing permits. 

A period of at least 2 years following the date on which an application for research or marketing permit, in support of which the results of the nonclinical laboratory study were submitted, is approved by the Food and Drag Administration. 

COSTECH is responsible for the review of most protocols for accessing natural resources. The application forms for access are simple and straightforward. Thus, for a foreign collaborator and a Tanzanian institution, the two parties must complete an Application for Research Clearance before they are allowed to continue and this is attached to the research proposal. There are then fees to be paid and a materials transfer agreement to be established. Academic research requests are processed through COSTECH, but commercial requests, depending on the aim, go through other ministries. 

In the United States, GLP regulations (21 CFR 58) apply to safety or animal toxicology studies performed during research and development. These regulations define GLPs for conducting non-clinical laboratory studies that support or are intended to support applications for research or marketing permits for products...

Peer review is the process by which scientific results produced by one group are subjected to the analysis of other experts in the field. In practice it is most often used by scientific journals. Scientists author manuscripts detailing their experiments, results, and interpretations and these manuscripts are distributed by the journal editors to other researchers in the field for review prior to publication. The authors must address the comments and questions of the reviewers and make appropriate revisions for their work to be accepted for publication. Peer review is also the process by which applications for research funds are evaluated and awarded. Peer review may also be used informally by groups of researchers or graduate students wishing to get an evaluation of their research prior to writing it up for publication. 

Native LDL is heterogeneous and contains huge numbers of oxidation-sensitive components from which a vast number of oxidation products can be produced. Thus, largely for research purposes, but also to develop approaches for risk assessment, many methods have been developed for measuring oxidation products. Although some of the measurement techniques presently have application for research laboratories only, others are appropriate for use in clinical laboratories and some appear to have adaptability for automation. In the experimental rig, an adsorbent cell was not included in the vacuum space. Whereas the inclusion of such a cell is very desirable in an industrial application, for research purposes its effect would have introduced a complication in assessing the resulting experimental data and was not therefore incorporated.
