Anti-herbicides

The use of antidote chemicals or "anti-herbicides11 on crops to counteract the effect of herbicides and thereby increase crop tolerance is a highly promising procedure. This technique is already being used in one series of compounds and may enjoy greater acceptance as more "anti-herbicides" become available. [Pg.57]

In general, triazines are pre- and post-emergence selective herbicides particularly effective on annual and perennial broadleaf and grassy weeds in corn, sorghum, cotton, soybeans, sugar cane, and a host of other fruit and cereal crops. Some have anti-fungicidal properties (e.g., anilazine), and some (e.g., simazine) can be used for... [Pg.412]

Uses Intermediate in the manufacture of many chemicals (e.g., glycerine, 1,3,6-hexanediol, P-chloropropionaldehyde, 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrobenzaldehyde, P-picoline, nicotinic acid), pharmaceuticals, polyurethane, polyester resins, liquid fuel, slimicide herbicide anti-microbial agent control of aquatic weeds in irrigation canals and ditches warning agent in gases. [Pg.76]

It has been established that DXS catalyzes the first step in a novel biosynthetic pathway leading to isoprenoids in bacteria, algae, plant chloroplasts, and in the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum. DXS is therefore a novel target for antibiotics, herbicides, or anti-malarials. Our work has contributed to an understanding of the novel biosynthetic pathway and could further open new perspectives on how to inhibit the pathway in pathogenic bacteria, protists, or weeds. [Pg.323]

Peak identification is as follows 1, chlortoluron 2, isoproturon plus diuron 3, linuron 4, diben-zuron , water matrix. Reprinted from Journal of Chromatography, A 777, I. Ferrer et al.
