Anti-complementary factor

B. Cobra Venom Factor (CVF). Because CVF activates an anti-complementary factor C3 without the presence of antibody, the injection of CVF to a person will activate the anticomplementary system and reduce the factors. This property is extensively used in organ transplantation. A person pretreated with CVF has a better chance of receiving an organ without rejection. 

Sulfated fucan from brown seaweed shows anti-complementary activity by inhibition of the complement system [67]. The polysaccharide has been found to inhibit C4 cleavage which results in the formation of the classical C3 convertase (C4b2a), and to inhibit formation and function of alternative C3 convertase (C3bBb) by interfering with the binding of factor B to C3b and accelerating the decay of factor P-stabilized sites on the alternative C3 convertase (Fig. 7) [67]. 

The function of protection is, to a considerable degree, the upkeep of the optimum anti-corrosion factor built into the particular design itself. Protection on its own, therefore, caimot normally take sole responsibility for preservation of a utihty in a usable state. Both the intrinsic corrosion-control provisions and properties that are kept captive within the material boundaries of the designed structure or equipment, and the corrosion-protection activities that are applied from without, are complementary... 

These are important factors which need to be considered in the overall final package. Many light stabilizers and anti-oxidants give synergism. There are two complementary effects here [1-5] as follows.
