Analogue power amplifier

An interesting device (a solid state analogue of the Golay cell ) was developed by Jones and Richards [3.59] who used an optical lever to amplify the linear expansion of a constantan strip. With an area of 5 x 0.2 mm the noise equivalent power was 10 " WHz corresponding to a D of 10 °. The response time was about 0.1 s. The D achieved places the performance within a factor of 2 of the ideal limit. [Pg.95]

In the circuit, the analogue stage replaces the passive filter, which is often required by switching amplifiers. That is, it performs the tasks of an analogue filter at the power level. The ripple of the output signal of the switching amplifier can be dampened by more than 20 dB. A passive coil filter usually... [Pg.270]

A modified electrical, geometrical analogue for time-dependent heat generation problems that utilizes a mechanical device for creating a simulated exponential power use has been previously described. This mechanism is limited, however, to problems involving rather long periods due to inherent mechanical difficulties. Therefore, to eliminate this difficulty, an electronic device has been developed. This device consists of a d-c amplifier, a resistance-capacitance feed-back circuit, and a shorting switch as illustrated. [Pg.91]

For optical applications, inorganic silicate-based oxide [2], non-oxide sulfide [3], and hybrid [4] and nanocomposite thin films [5] have been extensively studied, for passive or active optical components in integrated optical applications, including power splitters, Er " -dof>ed optical amplifiers for dense wavelength division multiplexer (DWDM) systems, and Au nanoparticle (NP)-doped optical sensors. However, sol-gel-derived materials may often differ from their melt-quenched analogues, even for the simple compoimd Si02- In these... [Pg.713]
