Properties White crystals or powder slight aromatic odor and taste. Mp 79-82C, bp 94C (11 mm Hg), unstable in air and light. Slightly soluble in water soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene, and amylene hydrate aqueous and alcoholic solutions decompose on exposure to light. Combustible. [Pg.1261]

AMYLENE HYDRATE (75-85-4) CsH O Flammable liquid. Forms explosive mixture with air (flash point 105°F/41°C cc Fire Rating 3). Violent reaction with strong oxidizers acetyl bromide alkylaluminums... [Pg.80]

Crystals, mp 79 82 , decompn starting at 70 . bp10 92-93. Slight ethereal or aromatic odor and taste. Sol in 40 parts water at 40° sol in alcohol, ether, benzene, warm petr ether very sol in amylene hydrate (tert-amyl ale). An aq soln (1 in 50), prepd at 35-40° and tested immediately, is not acid to methyl red. The aq and alcoholic solns dec cm exposure to light in aq soln dibromoacetaldehyde and HBr are formed, both of which are strongly irritant. Protect from tight LDm orally in rats 1.09 g/kg (Burtner, Lehmann). [Pg.1513]

Note To avoid danger of decompn it is marketed under the name Avertin with Amylene Hydrate (Solution), as Tribromoethanol Solution. Each ml contains 1 g tribromo-ethanol. [Pg.1513]
