Perhaps the best site is that of Amnesty International at http //www.amnesty.org. Its page http //web.amnesty.orgAibrary/eng-313/index cites many dozens of case studies, a significant fraction of which involve electricity. Or type electricity into their search engine (almost hidden at the foot of the page), and be shocked at the number of so-called friendly and civilized countries that employ torture Israel, Indonesia, the USA, and many of the new countries of Europe. Be warned some of the details are horrific - electricity is a very efficient way of generating pain. 

It has been known for many years that the human brain is dependent for its norman functioning on a regular input of sensory stimuli. Sensory deprivation leads to hallucinations and finally to mental breakdown. The use of these sensory deprivation techniques by British forces in Northern Ireland(Ref 7) was the subject of an official investigation (Ref 4). This commission concluded that physical torture had not been used. But a commission set up by Amnesty International concluded that the technique clearly amounted to brutality and was dangerous both to the immediate mental health of the individual subjected to this treatment and to the long-term health of some subjects (Ref S) See also under Sound as a Weapon in Vol 9 Refs 1)G.C. Throughout his career he has always placed a high value on the idea of culturally sensitive care Kecently the Unit in which he works was awarded a quality mark for Transcultural Care . This was for an accident prevention project with adolescent ethnic groups in inner city estates. He has also been known to advocate for improved public health services for minority groups in his city. He is a member of Greenpeace and Amnesty International . 

On April 15, 2005 more than 1500 Amnesty International student members from 10 states throughout the Northeast descended on the Indian Consulate in New York to demand action from the Indian government on Bhopal. The Association for India s Development participated in solidarity actions and events at various Indian government offices in the United States that same day. These actions indicate that Dow s inability to resolve the Bhopal issues is threatening its license to operate.
