A number of 1,2,3-oxathiazole 5-oxides are prepared from the reaction of thionyl chloride with various ethane derivatives having vicinal oxygen- and nitrogen-containing groups. Reaction of the 2-aminoethanol derivative (146) with SOCI2 gave (147) (see Chapter 4.34). 

Aminoethanol hydrochloride [2002-24-6] M 97.6, m 75-77 . Crystd from EtOH. It is deliquescent. 

Monoethanolamine (MEA), ethanolamine (ETA) 2-aminoethanol 2-hydroxyethylamine Nt CPLjCHjOH. MW = 61.1. Sp. gr. = 1.012. Flash point 93 °C. Also used as an absorbent for acidic gases in petrochemical operations. A breakdown product of morpholine and so is often found in secondary steam cycles systems. Thought to be superior to morpholine. Available as a 99+% alkylamine, commodity product, from several international manufacturers, including BP Chemicals PLC, Union Carbide, and Texaco Corporation. Commonly available through chemical distributors. 

A range of amines and alcohols has been selected for calculating 8 and Tg of fully capped EPM-g-MA as a function of the MA graft content. Examples of these amines and alcohols included ammonia, 2-aminoethanol, 2-(methylamino)ethanol, diethanolamine, diisopropanolamine, urea, glycine, 1,4-dia-minobutane, and the amide acid of ammonia-capped MA. Typical results are presented in Figure 13.7. 

The results in Table 13.2 indicate that the degree of swell decreases in the order of products capped with ammonia, 2-aminoethanol, diisopropanolamine, and diethanolamine, which is in line... 

Finally, a highly complex structure is created when /ra s-Cd(4-ampy)2 (4-ampy = 4-aminopyri-dine) and Cd(4-ampy)(ame) Ag(CN)2 units (ame = 2-aminoethanol) are linked by bridging //- Ag(CN)2 groups to form a 2-D network with rhombus meshes and almost linear chains.
