Alkaloids and Other Heterocyclic Compounds from Porifera [Pg.194]

A marine sponge belonging to the genus Laxosuberites contained a mixture of four 5-alkylpyrrole-2-carboxaldehydes (295), (6 Z)-5-(12 - [Pg.194]

From the methanolic extract of sun-dried specimens of the sponge Petrosia seriata Braekman et al. 194) isolated a novel type of bis-quinolizidine alkaloid, the ichthyotoxic petrosin (312), and determined its structure by X-ray diffraction. 312, which contains a C-16 macrocycle, was toxic to the fish Lebistes reticulatus (LD = 50mg/L). Later, [Pg.195]

A sponge belonging to the genus Reniera furnished a series of antimicrobial isoquinolines and an isoindole derivative (197), renierone (319), mimosamycin (320), N-formyl-l,2-dihydrorenierone (321), 0-de-methylrenierone (322), 1,6-dimethyl-7-methoxy-5,8-dihydroisoquino-line-5,8-dione (323), 2,5-dimethyl-6-methoxy-4,7-dihydroisoindole-4,7-dione (324), and renieramycins A-D (325-328). Mimosamycin (320) was originally isolated from Streptomyces lavendulae. Compounds 319 and 321, both inhibited cell division in the fertilized sea urchin egg assay. [Pg.196]

Seven macrocyclic alkaloids have already been mentioned in the last chapter. There are also reports on other types of macrocycles, all of them showing biological activity. Most attention has been devoted to [Pg.199]
