Alkaloids and Heterocyclic Compounds

Alkaloids are nitrogen-containing organic compounds that are slightly alkaline. They are natural products and occur in plants. [Pg.545]

Like heterocyclic compounds, they have a complex structure. They are used in pharmaceuticals and perfumery, and for the fabrication of certain dyestuffs, etc. [Pg.545]

Acridine C6H4CH-N-C6H4 (which is the starting compound for the synthesis of certain dyestuffs), [Pg.545]

Aluminium equipment is widely used for the extraction, distillation, packaging or storage of these products, which are not altered in contact with aluminium. [Pg.546]

This list has been limited to cases cited in more than one publication. It is likely that a very large number of other alkaloids and heterocyclic compounds are prepared or stored in aluminium equipment. [Pg.546]
