Rhodium(II) acetate dimer was purchased from Alfa Aesar Company and used as received.

The checkers purchased 4-DMAP and Me3N HCl from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. Et3N was purchased from Alfa Aesar Chemical Company and was distilled from CaH2. The submitters obtained 4-DMAP and Et3N from Lancaster and Me3N HCl from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. 

Piperidone monohydrate hydrochloride and ammonium carbonate were purchased from Alfa-Aesar Chemical Company and used without further purification. Methanol was purchased from Mallinckrodt Chemical Company and used as received. 

Potassium cyanide was purchased from Alfa Aesar Chemical Company and used without further purification. 

The checkers purchased Fmoc-Cl from Alfa-Aesar Chemical Company. Impurities are sometimes found in Fmoc-Cl purchased from various sources, and it is necessary to verify its purity by TLC and H-NMR analysis. If necessary, Fmoc-Cl can be purified by recrystallization from hexane.

P-Methylstyrene (99%) and dimethoxymethane (99%) were obtained from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. and used as received. ACS grade acetonitrile and 30% H2O2 were purchased from Fisher Scientific and used as received. 1-Phenylcyclohexene (99%) was obtained from Alfa Aesar. 

Results reported in [602] refer to quartz from Alfa Aesar or from US Silica Company. 

Materials and apparatus. The 2-bromoquinoline-3-boronic acid (BrQBA) (97%), D-glucose (99%) and D-mannose (99%) were purchased from Alfa Aesar. NaDC (+99%), D-fructose (99%) and D-galactose (99%) are products of Acros Organics. A Cary Eclipse luminescence spectrometer (Varian Company) was employed to obtain room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) spectra and measure lifetime. 

Comparison of results obtained from the alkylation of benzene with dodecene with the resulting catalysts made by the two immobilization methods revealed, in particular, excellent activity and selectivity for the materials obtained by cation grafting. Furthermore, these initial - but highly promising - results have been accompanied by an increased industrial interest for commercialization of these grafted ionic liquid catalyst systems. Hence, Johnson Matthey Catalysts aimounced (ICC Paris, July 2004) the commercialization of such grafted ionic liquid alkylation/ acylation catalysts in late 2004, through their associated chemical company Alfa Aesar [74].

Rutile (TiOj) can be prepared in the form of single crystals by the Vemeuil (flame fusion) technique. Slightly reduced rutile is an n-type semiconductor with an energy gap of 3.05 eV and electron mobilities of -1.0 cmWs at room temperature.
