Propylene oxide is a low boiling point, flammable liquid, readily soluble in both water and the more common organic solvents, such as alcohol, ether, and aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. Commercial sales involve only technical grade (about 98%), and bulk movements require a hazardous material shipping label. Standard transport equipment (trucks, tank cars, and barges) can be used.

In Rochester, New York, she began her first public crusade on behalf of temperance. The temperance movement dealt with the abuses of women and children who suffered from alcoholic husbands. Also, she worked tirelessly against slavery and for women s rights. Anthony helped write the history of woman suffrage.

Concentration profiles for compound 67 are given in Figure 7. Although the relative effect of dispersion due to tidal flow and downstream movement due to the net river flow are not precisely known, it is clear from these data that compound 67 comes from a point source located near river mile 100. In fact, the company which produces the precursor alcohols (no. 68-70), the chemically related chlorinated ethylene glycol (no. 64) and the Cg-phenol (no. 38) discharges its effluent at river mile 104. 

A 55-year-old man complains of disorientation. He cannot remember where he was yesterday and appears confused. Upon examination he appears to be in poor health and admits to a slight problem recently with alcohol. After consultation with his daughter who accompanied him, it appears that alcohol abuse has been a severe problem for the past 35 years. Cosolvent flushing is an in situ technology that enhances the remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater by injecting water and a cosolvent such as alcohol (e.g., ethanol, methanol, and isopropyl) into a contaminated area. Research has shown that an organic cosolvent can also accelerate the movement of metals through a soil matrix. The alcohol causes both an increase in aqueous contaminant solubility and lowering of non-aqueous-phase liquid (NAPL)-water interfacial tension.
