WS-7528 [132147-69-4][VI] a nonsteroidal estrogen, is an isoflavone which has been isolated from Streptomjces sp. No. 7528 and is an estrogen agonist. It inhibits [3ff]-estradiol binding to its receptor in rat uterine cytosol at an inhibitor for 50% of the rats tested (IC q) concentration of 5.7 nM. It also induces the growth of estrogen-dependent human breast cancer cell line MCE-7 (7).

Recently, two examples of the separation of enantiomers using CCC have been published (Fig. 1-2). The complete enantiomeric separation of commercial d,l-kynurenine (2) with bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a chiral selector in an aqueous-aqueous polymer phase system was achieved within 3.5 h [128]. Moreover, the chiral resolution of 100 mg of an estrogen receptor partial agonist (7-DMO, 3) was performed using a sulfated (3-cyclodextrin [129, 130], while previous attempts with unsubstituted cyclodextrin were not successful [124]. The same authors described the partial resolution of a glucose-6-phosphatase inhibitor (4) with a Whelk-0 derivative as chiral selector (5) [129]. 

LH-RH (Luteinizing Hormone-Releasing Hormone) agonists are drugs that inhibit the secretion of sex hormones. In men, LH-RH agonists cause testosterone levels to fall. In women, LH-RH agonists cause the levels of estrogen and other sex hormones to fall. 

Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) are synthetic compounds with partially agonistic and partially antagonistic estrogenic properties. In bone, SERMs inhibit bone resorption via the mechanisms known for estrogens. Major SERMs are tamoxifen, a triphenylethylene compound, and raloxifene. In postmenopausal women, the latter has been shown to prevent bone loss and to reduce fracture risk by 40%.
