Agitation washers

The separated nitrated product is continuously drawn off from the first separator into a stainless -steel wash tank equipped with a cylindrical baffle and an impeller-type agitator. Water is continuously added to the washer and the mixt overflows... [Pg.287]

As mechanical agitation is important to effect the bio-fmishing, only selected processes and machines can be used, for example tubular fabric preferably cut to open width and treated in open width washers. In the rope form the loosened fibre particles are filtered out by the fabric and cannot easily be removed. The pad-batch process, jig or package dyeing machines are not effective in bio-fmishing. [Pg.186]

Rubber closures for vials or other containers being filled aseptically on an industrial scale are nonporous but share some of the problems of porous loads. They are most frequently steam sterilized by passage through double-ended rotary washer autoclaves, which by agitation of the product ensure effective steam penetration to even the potentially occluded parts of the closures. Steam comes into direct contact with these bulk items they are not usually wrapped nor packed into hermetically sealed containers. Special precautions must be taken for unloading to avoid compromising their sterility. Static autoclaves may also be used for prew ashed versions of these types of components. They should then be loaded into the autoclave in shallow layers in perforated trays or boxes. [Pg.88]

PP finds highly successful uses in both major and small appliances. Washing machines, dish washers, tub liners, agitators, bleach and detergent dispensing units, valve and control assemblies, drain tubes, pump housings, door liners, coffee makers, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, can openers, knife sharpeners, room humidifiers and dehumidifiers, floor and ceiling fans, and window air-conditioner units are some examples. [Pg.395]

Flake washing is done in horizontal, slowly rotating, cylindrical vessels or in vertical towers equipped with a central agitator. Almost all processes employ a countercurrent wash pattern with fresh water entering where the flake exits from the washer and dilute acetic acid leaving where the flake enters the washer. It is necessary to remove all but traces of acetic acid from the flake, otherwise the latter could char during drying. [Pg.783]

The use of detergent-free ultrasonic washing may be the best method to clean small plastic parts. In this type of washer, clean water is placed in a tank that is subjected to ultrasonic (high-frequency) vibrations. Thousands of small bubbles form from the ultrasonic agitation. These bubbles scrub the part s surface and clean it without the use of heavy detergents or solvents. [Pg.734]

The gas from the reactor is quenched enough to solidify the molten ash droplets before they reach the waste-heat boiler, mounted directly above the gasifier. A spray washer cools the gas from 500°F to about 95°F after the boiler. At this temperature, the gas goes through two Thiessen disintegrators, which mechanically agitate the gas with water to remove more particulates. A demister follows the disintegrators and, if the gas is to be compressed, the demister is followed by electrostatic precipitators. [Pg.406]
