Aggression types

Carbamazepine. A pilot study using this agent in 10 youths with CD and aggression showed positive results (Kafantaris et al., 1992). However, a subsequent double-blind study of carbamazepine use in 22 youths with CD, solitary aggressive type, was negative (Cueva et al., 1996). 

Patients with small cell lung cancer (the most aggressive type) show the best responses to platinum-based combination regimens, including cisplatin and etoposide or cisplatin and irinotecan. The topoisomerase I inhibitor topotecan is used as second-line monotherapy in patients who have failed a platinum-based regimen. 

In this context, it should be noted that one of the most aggressive types of cancer, small cell lung carcinoma, represents, in fact, a result of malignant transformation of the lung neuroepithelial cells. These tumor cells still produce the same neuromediators [21, 22] and contain both NADPH oxidase and the H202-stimulated channels [8]. Even more, malignant transformation was found to be oxygen-dependent [23]. 

In our experiment, carried out for a 6 months period, 156 animals (rabbits, dogs) were tested. As a result of the skin-resorption effect of the poisonous substance, the animals were differently affected and on this basis divided in three groups - mild, medium and severe degree of affection. The used poisonous substances are the ones liable for destruction in correspondence to the American-Russian program for complete destroy, and which at the moment are the most aggressive type for this kind of application. These are the American substance Vx (conditionally called substance 1) and its Russian analogue (substance 2). 

Collecting duct carcinoma (CDC) of the kidney is a rare but aggressive type of RCC with presumed origin from Bellini s collecting ducts. Previously reported cases of low-grade collecting duct carcinoma have been reclassified as mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma (MTSC).

An especially insidious type of corrosion is localized corrosion (1—3,5) which occurs at distinct sites on the surface of a metal while the remainder of the metal is either not attacked or attacked much more slowly. Localized corrosion is usually seen on metals that are passivated, ie, protected from corrosion by oxide films, and occurs as a result of the breakdown of the oxide film. Generally the oxide film breakdown requires the presence of an aggressive anion, the most common of which is chloride. Localized corrosion can cause considerable damage to a metal stmcture without the metal exhibiting any appreciable loss in weight. Localized corrosion occurs on a number of technologically important materials such as stainless steels, nickel-base alloys, aluminum, titanium, and copper (see Aluminumand ALUMINUM ALLOYS Nickel AND nickel alloys Steel and Titaniumand titanium alloys). 

Such defects result from abnormal manufacturing operations such as insufficient lubrication between the metal and the mandrel during the tube-forming process. The lubricant may have been contaminated. Measurement indicated that some of these defects penetrated 8% of the tube wall thickness. Defects of this type can act as corrosion-initiation sites in a sufficiently aggressive environment.
